thermal time switch? Which ones that? Doesn't exist on anything made in 1990, so don't worry about that one. Sounds more like it fouls a plug or two, or runs extremely rich at first start up. Leaking injector? oil or water into cylinder? Plugs/ dis. cap/ rotor? Clean out the plug recesses and take ...

My mates theory was the AFM was full of crap and when you left it sat the crap settled on the switch, but was brushed to the side once the car ran?!

Can you take the AFM apart without wrecking it?

Still running like plop when cold...help!

I've been having cold running problems with my 1990 316i When you start it in the morning it runs rough and when you lightly touch the throttle it tries to cut out. Once its warmed up a bit, drive a minute up the road, its fine. I've changed the blue temp sensor which made no difference, and i clean...

Paint normally cracks because the paint hasnt gone off under the new paint thats been put on top if that makes any sense?! So when the paint underneath does dry it pulls the top coat apart and cracks it. Nothing to do but strip it off and start again.....you can flat the cracks and paint over again ...

I bought a ford Consul a few years back with no log book. I sent off for one and the DVLA said the reg. no. was on a Lambretta?!!! In a panic i searched the car for clues and found a soggy old tax disc under the seat, i dried this out and got the reg. from the disc. It turned out the muppet who made...

Kangeroo hop!

Heres a good one for you... Ive got a 1990 316i that will be fine usually, but when driving along with my foot slightly on the throttle (usually about 2000 revs) sometimes the car starts bucking with increasing violence until i change gear (up or down) or put my foot down on the throttle. And ideas?...
