Simon, make sure he gets it mapped after the m50 mani and bbtb are fitted.. it'll still perform well but will require some changes to the fuelling to maximise.

The conrod issue wason the s54 iirc, there was a recall regarding this. Never heard of this problem on the s52.
Nice cars, theres not alot you can buy with the same performance/spec/quality for the same money at the moment.

lol good point 320i.. i'm sorry i just don't see the point.. what use is that car other than to be kept in a garage somewhere. Surely the whole idea of buying an M3 is because you want to drive it, and drive it properly, not store it in a garage. Unless you have an extremely rare one it just seems a...

another tosser trying to get the big bucks for a £7 - £10,000 car. makes me sick. Tell me why this is worth £7 - £10k I believe it's worth this much assuming its got decent service history and good condition? So your saying a 32,000 miler isn't worth £20k What a normal m3? no way. you can...

you'd do very well to get a 0-60 time of under 4 seconds dude. E30's aren't the best at launches! Sounds an awesome project, as Jai mentioned though i would also be inclined to scrap the smg box, run a manual 6 speeder and emerald ECU, alot less work and no doubt alot cheaper in the end.. guess its ...

Re: shall i sell my old turbo?
Its a 2wd cossie T3 isn't it dude? might be worth selling on i guess, its not much use on your car at the end of the day. What turbo did you upgrade to? A t34 with 63 exhaust housing? might be worth keeping for parts if you've now got the same turbo with the only difference being a bigger hot side.

seems possible that the rubber seals play a reasonable part, as i guess the water that goes into the gap between tailgate and c pillar would end up going over the rear light on its escape?

Yea good price that, however prices are coming down, a friend got an estoril blue m3 evo coupe on an s plate with 80k and eibach suspension/ACS wheels for 6k recently and its a very nice one. I'd try to haggle abit more, the saloons are better in some respects, stiffer body etc. but lack vaders and ...

not technically no. Theres only the 328i and 328i Sport, if this is a car your looking to buy check the log book. Could well be a dressed up 328i as most owners should know what model of car they own..

i've known of identical symtoms on albeit larger engined e36s (323 and 328) which have turned out to be the maf.. but as you said not cheap!! if you know anyone unfortunate enough to also own a e36 316
then maybe you could 'borrow' theirs!

i'll try to answer a few questions, though i'm a novice :P going backwards... Rad should be fine as far as i'm aware, i haven't read of anyone changing them. The Volvo intercoolers should work fine, i guess they have their limits but a 2.5 running a bar should be within them. Cometic make very good ...

i wouldn't see the point in changing to an e30 box tbh, i think the M3 5 speed box is a good unit, afterall i've seen plenty of 3.0 M3's on silly high mileage with the orignal box, so i wouldn't exactly call them weak. My 328i sport of course had this box and with a Rogue Engineering short shift it ...

normally i'd say that chrome arches are wrong, but it all seems to work on your car, maybe some more old school rims with a nice polished lip or something would make it look even better

yb.. i don't know why people are so anti four pot.. its what the M3 was designed to have, as Ant mentioned. For the 6 pot owners who think 4 pots are girly, have a shot in a 318is, e30 or e36 if you driven either in six pot form, a much sharper car handling wise. Imo sticking a big V8 in a M3 is run...

Very smart car dude.
On the water cooling subject, a friend with a Cossie told me once your onto t34's at good boost levels water cooling can become ineffiecent and actaully pointless, how much of this is true i don't know. A question for the passion ford boys i'd say before you tackle it.

Re: What turbo?
Plenty of options dude, all comes down to funds really, you could go for a good spec T34 which should produce your desired power output with the right exhaust housing etc quite easily. Or go for a big turbo from the US as seen on ebay or the Holset option.. a Garrett would be the simplest to find/fi...

Sounds like you have the right idea's to me, a dodgy AFM can play havoc, try changing the ICV and AFM as you've said, and check for air leaks in the inlet pipe that leaves the throttle body.
Failing this, Maybe look at crank sensors, Dizzy cap, DME relay..
