Re:
I have now discovered that I can hear a clicking from the rear when I hit the wash button, and if I hold it down, the wiper goes. My plan is to swap the pumps, and see if that makes any difference. Sound logical? Getting the switch out to check the black/purple wire is a bit awkward as I will have t...

Re:
Which relays operate the front / rear wash?
My rear wash has packed up, wiper still works fine, but no wash, the switch doesn't even light up when I push it.
Thanks

KW Springs
Anyone tried them? I am thinking about getting some -35mm KW's, mainly as I am going to replace the front dampers, so might as well do the springs at the same time, and a full set of KW's are a similar price to a set of OE.
Just wanted to know how they compare?

Is there anything more to replacing the rocker cover than just taking the old one off, replacing gasket and refitting?
Thanks!

Re: M40 318i - uneven idle when warm
Anyone got any ideas? Having read a number of old threads, I am going to get some carb cleaner and do the TB and the ICV, and check the rubber pipework for splits - but can anyone tell me where the ICV is, and if I am barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re:
Thanks, spoke to the guy who did the last oil change and just found that out. It turns out that the pattern filter did not come with the O rings, etc. and the washer used was a sump one. This was slightly too big in diameter, was not square under the bolt, and was allowing the oil to escape. Replace...

I think they are supposed to come with self adhesive backing. If yours is used, and doesn't, then I would suggest using either mirror sticky pads or thin number plate sticky pads, cut to shape.

Leak from oil filter - M40
Ok, I have had my oil changed recently, and now have a leak from the top of the filter housing. I have wiped it clean, driven for a few miles, and that is definately the source. The washer on the bolt is bent, and I can't get it centred, also the top of the housing does not seem tight enough. What s...

Re: Replacing front suspension
I have read through the guide, and it would appear that the only additional tools I should need are spring compressors. Is this right? In the following guide http://ee1394.com/bmw/docs/factory/repair/en/index1.htm it mentions loads of special tools? Secondly, are there any bushes / mounts that shoul...

Changing Diff - what parts will I need?
My car is in for the diff to be changed at some point over the next few weeks, what other parts should we replace at the same time, i.e. diff mounting bush, etc? and what is likely to break / need to be replaced?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I was also wondering - is there supposed to be some kind of rubber cover / surround for the top mount? First one I did was completely shagged, so I didn't notice, but when I did the second one I noticed that it had a rubber outer?

Replacing front suspension
Ok, so I am so delighted by the improvement in the car having replaced my rear dampers and top mounts, that I am considering replacing the front springs and shocks.
How complicated is this by comparison, and do I assume that I just replace the inserts?
Thanks for your help!

M40 318i - uneven idle when warm
Ok, I should point out that my car may have taken some water up the air intake during the recent bad weather. It runs fine, except that sometimes when warm, it hunts for around 30-45sec. This isn't a big deal, it is just going from around 750 - 1100rpm, and I would like to sort it. Thanks for your h...

All back together, and aside from the fact that I forgot to reconnect the l/h speaker pod, I am delighted with the improvement. New OE dampers & top mounts, done, for less than £100.

Re: Replacing Top Mounts - Torques?
According to RealOEM, E30 M3 uses the same top mount as a regular E30, at least the same as my Touring.
Mind you, everyone was saying "get E46 330cd convertible ones" when they are the same as a 318ci convertible.

Hi, I am part way through replacing my top mounts, and was wondering if anyone has to hand the torques for the two top mount nuts, and for the lower bolt fixing to the hub? Re: Baby seat in Touring?
We have to use our rear facing seat (Jane Matrix) in the front, as the rear belts aren't long enough to go around it. I don't really have any problem with it being in the front though. She goes in the back of the Honda, so it is a treat to be allowed in the front of Daddy's car. We are about to buy ...
