Grinding Crank ? Nitriding ?
Hello guys. Haven't posted here for a while here. Background information: I'm building m20b27 stroker motor for turbo engine target output about 400hp (1 bar of boost). I got stock high compression m20b25 motor and i got m20b27 bottom end for it's crank and rods. I got most turbo parts prepared and ...

Re:
very cool. I'm basically doing the same project. I'm kinda stuck on manifold. The only difference being is that i got different manifold, HX35 turbo and I'll use 325i high compression pistons with eta shorter rod to get 8.6:1. besides I got like localy bought 12.9 headbolts, I'm aswell considering 1...

Re:
thanks for update ant... still i think t3 exhaust housing will be restricting on that engine on 31 psi.... as is the fact that it works well and spools quick to 14 psi... therefore i think it will be ok up to something like 20 psi, then exhaust back pressure will become a major pain (that wont stop ...

Re: m20 engine with a turbo
well... all thought i'd say it is best to get megasquirt (= $$$), up to about 6-7 psi of boost can be achieved wit motronic, but it does require some mucking around: you would need m30 afm and wideband lambda sensor = $$$ (or some dyno time = $$$) and then you will need probably put some bigger inje...

Re:
i dunno... that turbo looks small from the pic (might be just the perspective of the pic). how big is exhaust housing ? if it is 12cm^2 then you will run into problems beyond 400hp... if course you can keep increase boost.... but that will be just driving EGT's sky high and hardly making any extra p...

oze, depending what you take off. early piston and lates pistons, will be 2mm lower with eta crankd and 130mm rod... thing is that low comp piston is lower in height to start with. i guess you can deck 0.5-1mm without the need of a vernier... to deck the block it needs to be bare dissasembled block,...

update aswell... :) found an eta engine on the junkyard. It is in pretty good conditions, despite 188k miles on it. it was from an auto, crank and rods have very little freeplay. will need new bearings/rings though ! I have decided to go with the I pistons. so basically, i'm gonna have an I engine a...

the 1.35mm is from the last 2.7 hybrid I had apart, late 8.8:1 pistons 320 rods, 81mm crank and 2.5 block hello. I appreciate your input, and i do not want to be rude or argue, but i just do not understand the 1.35mm you mentioned. you say that on the 2.7 stroker (as described abouve) the pistons s...

Re: m20 rod/crank/piston/head combinations for stroker
i pistons ( 8.8:1 ) Eta crank Eta/323/320 rods ( same ) 885 cylinder head this will leave the pistons 1.35mm down the bores compared to stock, ( the eta block is 0.5mm taller so add that to calcs if thats the block you want to use ) Using the 2-5 pistons maintains the stock CC shape, always a good ...

Re: m20 rod/crank/piston/head combinations for stroker
Thanks fo input guys. I never realized that eta block is 0.5mm higher... the seem to be differences between UK and US edition of m20 engines. here in New Zealand you can find both types... so essentially i got an early 9.7:1 m20 engine, so i'll just rebuild it with eta rods and crank for 8.6:1 (that...

m20 rod/crank/piston/head combinations for stroker
hello dudes. Can somebody confirm that I'm on the right track ? CC = combustion chamber volume CR=compression ratio sweep = bore*stroke all calculations for single cylinder. now, on stock m20b25 euro with 9.7:1 compression, CC = sweep/CR-1 = 47.774 cc's because the crank has extra (6mm/2) = 3mm thro...

really wierd. how come can you confirm it has the spark ? if the rotor arm is worn, you might be not getting spark on that very cylinder. might be a good idea to check out rotor arm. dont bother checking injector. if the plug is black and wet from petrol, it means the injector is most likely right a...

I did ms2 install and all is great except one major problem i have. Namely I'm pretty sure I have 'weak spark' problem. I.e MS by itself is not capable of driving rather large coil that my e30 has. now, important observation: my motronic 1.0 ECU has built/integrated in ignition amplifier (otherwise ...
