Brake lights stuck on?
Hey guys, quick question...
My brake lights are constantly on, which is obviously annoying and quite dangerous. What could cause this? Maybe a duff switch - if so where is it located? Sorry - new to E30s

Re: Could anyone tell me how to weld a diff up?
Not slow, just don't wang it into corners at full tilt. Once you've got it loaded up into the corner then do what you want with the accelerator. It's just a different approach to the driving, like driving on different tyres... I guess if you don't have the ability to feel what the car is doing and d...

Re: Could anyone tell me how to weld a diff up?
Hahaha. You pub talk pros. My first car, which I drove for a year without any scare, was a 2.0 Sierra (which would obviously handle WORSE than an E30), stripped out with a welded diff. If you have even HALF a brain, it's not hard to work out that the car will be slightly understeery on INITIAL turn-...

Sportmax 002 15x8 ET0 wheels!
Hope this is OK with the mods... Basically after months of talking, I've managed to get a good deal on bulk orders of Sportmax 002 wheels from the USA. 15 X 8 ET0. Multi-fit, 4x114.3 and 4x100. Here they are on the back of my Corolla http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/jacktopi/86sportmax.jpg htt...

To be fair, drifting is gay. But I can't afford to do proper sprints and hillclimbs, so I'll just be gay for a little while.

The OMP cages you sell, does it come with a rear diaganol, and is it bolt-in or weld in like the door bars?
Also, doesn it go through the dash or around it?
Cheers.

Re: What do places charge for a swap?
Cheers dude. I havn't found an engine yet, but I'm on the lookout for a good priced one! My car has PAS and ABS and all that crap ha, more stuff to get in the way :) Could I not just use the 2.0 box on the 2.5 engine, so the prop stays the same? (I've PM'd oze btw) Oh and is there any ancillery stuf...

Re: What do places charge for a swap?
Ha ok then guys you've persuaded me. The reason I'm not too keen is that I come from a background of Minis and Fords, where you can stand in the engine bay while the engine is still in place  . Also, I've helped a mate of mine put the 3.5 in his E28 a few times, and it has always been a slight...

What do places charge for a swap?
Ok just an enquiry for now. I've done engine swaps in the past, though never in an E30. I'm pretty sure with a helping hand from some friends, I could fit a 2.5 into my 320i, but tbh I don't enjoy the pressure of having to get it all done with minimal equipment and timescale of one Sunday. So how mu...

The wheels look great. Though I've only seen them on Polos and Golfs, I'd like to see them on an E30. As long as they're wide enough, I reckon it'd look sah-weet.

Well I just went out for a little investigating, and wiggled the dash complete free
. Now I just need to get someone to hold it up and feed the big AC pipes through whilst I pull the box out. Result

Re: Taking out the damn heater box
Well the box itself is prefectly free, and about 70% out. But there's not quite enough room to get the mechanisms at the back out. The whole dash now feels fairly free, and has moved forward an inch or 2, but seem to be stuck there - which is what's bugging me. Surely everything would have to be und...

Re: Taking out the damn heater box
First of all, apologies but.... The dash is loose.... however I cannot get it free enough! All the lower trim is off, the colomn shroud is off, the main bolts at the sides are off, EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE OFF! Though it still feels like it's slightly attatched to something near the back of the dash, ...

Re: Taking out the damn heater box
Aaah ok you've pulled my leg.
How do I go about taking the dash out then? I've undone the 2 bolts at each end, but I guess there's something securing it to the bulkhead? (I've got bad lighting and it's hard to feel around with the the wires everywhere)

Re: Taking out the damn heater box
Ok, it's not coming out. I've managed to move it about an inch and get it off the bulkhead studs, but no further I've loosened the dash at the ends to give a bit of movement, but the heater box is still wedged right up against the dash, and still theres the fan bit slightly through the bulkhead. Rem...

Re: Strut sizes
I getcha. So if I got a shock+spring set for a 4pot, I could just ditch the front springs in favour of something a bit beefier.
So then the question is.... are the oversized struts on the 325i really needed?

Re: Strut sizes
I have the very good 320, but wont be putting a 2.5 in just yet. The suspension is very important however, more-so than the engine is to me. I dont desperately want a 2.5, but I'm planning on going that way in the future. So what do I need to look out for?? 45mm strut 320i suspension, or generic 45m...

I'm after 2nd hand stuff, and there's not much around at the minute, apart from things meant for the 318i.orangecurry wrote:? why would you get a 318i suspension kit?
So what suspension set up would I be needing? 320 specific? Would the 318i stuff not cope with the weight?

Re: Strut sizes
Hmmm, I decided to go and get the vernier on the strut. 45mm apparently.... why is that? I understood it that the 320i was pretty much the same as the 325i, but I also understood it that you need the beefier struts when doing a 325i conversion on a 318i. So how can the 320i share 318i struts?? So sa...

Again, sorry for the stupid questions. I have a 320i 2door, so assumed that it had the same suspension set-up as the 325i, being a 6pot and all. Howeverm just looking on RealOEM, it lists both 45mm and 51mm struts like the 318i, where-as it's just eh 51mm for the 325i. What's the deal? Do I just nee...

To SPADGE or anyone else that has done this before..... I've undone the 4 nuts from the engine bay and taken off the rubber coolant hoses. I've taken off all the AC piping upto the bulk head. The lower half of the dash is out, and I've undone the front bracket, the hoses at the side and front, and f...
