Re: e36 geabox's e30 m52 conversion zf v getrag ?
had time back again i would seriously consider using the m20b20 box i had, i believe there the same just different angles that the m20 and m52 sit at because i had a hard time finding the propshaft and zf box at a reasonable price and if it blew i could always just get another cheap and i really wan...

Re: e36 geabox's e30 m52 conversion zf v getrag ?
i,m no expert mick but from my experience i know the zf is a much stronger way overkill for a 328i or even a e36 m3 if memory serves they can handle 550-600 horses they weigh 50 kgs the getrag on the other hand is much lighter and is at the other end of the scale as far as horsepower limits is conce...

Re: M20b20 to m52b28
yes worth it in the end as i intend to keep the car for a very long time (give it to my kids when i'm gone long) if you don,t see yourself keeping the car i wouldn't do it though better off putting a m20b25 in or 2.7 if you don,t mind spending a bit of money and want the torque a m52b28 offers as th...

Re: Alloy wheels
Do not put 17s on an E30. 16s are as big as you need. 17s ruin the ride. I know, I’ve tried it. agree with toplag 17" are to big though they felt alright on the motorway on the twisties there not good i,ve got 16" supperleggera,s on now and they feel great properly the best mod i,ve done to the car...

Re: M20b20 to m52b28
the most changeling bit buy far was not fitting the zf 328 gearbox to the engine prior to installing the engine lying on my back all day trying to lift it up and get it lined up right what a nightmare the exhaust i found easy as all i did was cut two v,s were the manifold turns down about 2" out fro...

i had 17x7.5j et20 alpina reps bk171 if i remember correctly with 215 45 tyres just fitted not much clearance at all but no rubbing with -45mm springs the back i carn,t say as they were 7.5j also though there was more room in the back than front id say you will need to roll your archers in the rear

i was in the same position a few years ago m20b20 that overheated on a decent run but was fine around town i went down the m52b28 route and i don,t regret it though i underestimated how long and how much money it would take but not buy to much if you don,t mind the wait id say put the time and money...

i would put an m52b28 in cheap enough (500-600) on ebay from breakers with warranty and a wiring loom from dan the man unless you feel confident doing the wiring yourself m52 is lighter than m50 and IMHO a e30 was built for a 4 cylinder to much weight up front ruines the handling and balance of the ...

perfect for that makes the car very chuckable if thats the right word
though if your just cruising would the e30 rack be just fine only felt the need for a better rack after upgrading suspension and could go round corners faster
