Re: Ticking when warming up

Yeah I've done the fuel filter that seemed to help in general to be honest. I think the baffles must of gone.

On a 1989 would this have a cat?

Re: Ticking when warming up

Thanks Brian. When the car is warm there is hardly any tapping. It's pretty quiet. The car has done 88k and has been serviced regularly. Nothing to worry about then.

I'm also puzzled on the exhaust. It sounds like it blows when it gets to 3k revs - but have been told this is just how they sound?

Ticking when warming up

Hi guys - finally got the intermittent idle sorted thanks to your help.

Next question is - when the car is warming up then engine ticks for 10-15 seconds - then goes away this repeats until it's fully warmed up.

I'm lead to believe this could be the oil spray bar,

Any thoughts would be great.

IS front splitter retrofit

Hi guys, any idea how or if the IS splitter fits to a standard bumper? Does it clip or bolt?

Thanks all

Original standard head unit dead

So after much deliberation - and the original dying I'm going to replace my head unit.

Took the original out to find no standard connections.

Really confused! Is there a harness you can buy, to connect the existing e30 wiring to new head units?

Any help would be great guys, bit baffeled! Thanks

Electrical aerial retrofit

Hi guys, pretty new here and am slot working my way through my list of jobs. The next one is the aerial. I have an 89 316i coupe - and I believe the aerial is manual - it has no box in the rear wing. If this is the case, can I easily retrofit an electrical one, or is it not worth the hassle? Thanks!

Re: m40 316i intermittent idle when cold

I've ordered the hose that comes out of the icv to the air duct / inlet hose, which also as you says is moulded to another Pipe which is the throttle body warmer? So hopefully this does the trick. I've checked the ohms resistance on the icv which is all good. Thanks for your advice dude, fingers cro...

Re: m40 316i intermittent idle when cold

When it's hot / warm it idles lovely. The gauge sits right in the middle too.

m40 316i intermittent idle when cold

Hi all, pretty new to this scene! recently bought a 85k 316i with an m40 engine. Ive noticed when its cold it really struggles, so have done the obvious things like plugs ht leads, rotor/distributor. The idle still fluctuates and the car still isn't that happy cold. Ive noticed that the hoses from t...
