Re: Improving Airflow to Engine Bay

Additional air flow is not such a good idea. You need better cooling capacity, If not already, fit an oil cooler.

Not a spline as such, more of a locking pin through the motor shaft.

Re: 318is E46 rack conversion

Moving the rack affects scrub radius, can be good for high power fast bend tracks but not so good for fast road cars.

Re: 318is E46 rack conversion

Expect your £50 rack to end up being £500 to fit!

As Mags said, issues with manifolds and many don't like stiffer mounts and end up reversing the conversion.

Seeing as I need the clocks and abs sensor. I wouldn't mind dsc and abs system, so is it still not worth it? Chu, the Bosch 5.7 wheel speed output to the Instrument Cluster and ECU is not the same as the MK60. I have a digital wheel speed conversion kit for customers who upgrade E39's. This enables...

Pretty sure the bearing is on the rear section of an e30 M3 prop and the regular E30's have the bearing on the front section. So not compatible......

Its not only the plug Brian, one of the metal pipes is also larger in size so is very specific to M3 and other E30's which required a pre supply pump.

Re: Recommended oil for torsen LSD

I think that may have been one of the reasons BMW started using them. Main reason was for use with DSC/ASC, etc. Plate type locking diffs. oppose the action of the electronics, while torsens behave themselves. Depending on the mapping, when programming pumps I can select a clutch differential in to...

And you are quite correct.
Its an M20, you could use old rings and and wire wheel on the bores and it would still run as it left the factory.

Re: Evans Waterless coolant, food for thought

Thermodynamics is an interesting subject. I for one would not be running a waterless coolant, especially not on an engine which has its cooling flow in a longitudinal direction, basically this is all non ///M engines. The ///M's have flow across the head/cylinders and have a better average temperatu...

On a race E30 the rear drop links need to be much shorter as the ride height is so low the stock length links would hit the boot floor under compression. You're still not that low so should be ok, but something to consider for the future.

The side on which the driver sits doesn't have anywhere near as much bearing on the final power output as the electronics do.
