Re: M20 turbo manifold
If it's this style we're talking about : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221016220552 they don't fit anything very well. I just offered mine up today; it would fit on 4-6 OR 1-3 but was too short between 3 & 4 to fit both at the same time. So I cut the flange between them - and the pieces moved together....

Interesting , the specs are pretty much the same ..
Varta do 3 powers of the 096 same as bosch do.
Varta is a fair bit cheaper though

all vw and audi ecu are interchangeable to a point, get the number of the ecu and put it in ebay, ignoring the letters at the end. the letters are the software version or map that's on that ecu. if you google the number from your ecu you'll see what i mean. so you could get away with buying a cheape...

Use a Cometic MLS, a standard one may well work fine short term but it wont last and you'll be regretting it when you need to pull the head off
.
Lighter flywheel the better
, i wouldn't recommend a paddle clutch, stage 1 or 2+ is best i think.
post some pictures up

Re: One injector not firing
Your measured voltage, if I'm reading it right, suggests an ECU fault - the driver for that injector is leaky, and will possibly overheat and damage the injector if left in that condition for long. Your injector wire swapping idea is good, if the loom arrangements allow it. It doesn't really matter...

Re: One injector not firing
Wen running you should have 12v plulses . Measure from the battery + to the - on injector plug. Should be the left prong on the injector (looking into it).
If you tester cant keep up it may look like 6v.
It may test fine , but not be enough strength.
Id be checking the wiring.
