Re: Anyone done Sport Automatic -> Manual conversion?
awesome, almost finished the car on Sunday, only two jobs left to do were to bleed the clutch and make sure starter motor was on nice and tight, both really two person jobs. My father came around just before and helped me do those two things, and I now have a 5 speed E30 325i Convertible! Would just...

have also come across this using early starter motor in a facelift car, Im going to assume that you are just experiencing a faulty one, and this doesnt follow on from an earlier change exercise?

Re: getrag G260 shifting bracket
ok i think i understand what you are asking now, you are wanting to fit an early shifter mech to a late box, is that right? If you are using an early box, you need to use an early shifter mechanism similarly, late box = late shifter They are not cross compatible under the BMW catalogue, however you ...

Re: Anyone done Sport Automatic -> Manual conversion?
To disable the auto start inhibitor, get in behind the glove box and find the heavy black/yellow wire, it will be split to go through the inhibitor loom. Just disconnect the 2 black/yellow wires from the inhibitor loom and reconnect the 2 plugs. i am planning to connect them together by making a ne...

a dodgy airflow meter and throttle position sensors can cause the symptoms you describe. unfortunately the M20 DME cannot do live diagnostics to see for sure

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
interesting, LPG is certianly a reduction in power in my experience (here in New Zealand), resulting in a decrease in fuel economy, however the far less price/litre offsets the higher economy, LPG results in a cost saving, providing that your milage is enough to offset the cost of install in the fir...

Re: Brake switch problem
sounds to me like a faulty aftermarket switch, fairly common with chinese/taiwan knockoffs, however genuine OEM parts arent 100% immune to DOA failure either

Re: Anyone done Sport Automatic -> Manual conversion?
IIRC the loom connects in the steering column area, there is a largish rectangular plug there. I did a few manual conversions on these quite a few years ago now so memory is a bit fuzzy.. As Brian says, it is no different except for the additional loom/ECU in the boot/TPS. I have never come across ...

Re: check panel keeps lighting up randomly
i need to do this on my E30 too, only ever the brake light circuit Quite often this is because of a brake pull rod (from pedal box to the servo behind the glovebox) being in need of adjustment, allowing the brake lights to flash on intermittently while driving. How much can you lift your brake peda...

Re: Starting issue
can be a variety of things, mostly fuel system related like bad pump not providing pressure to start with, or bad pressure regulator and or leaky injectors loosing pressure while sitting, etc.
also check that your crank position sensor is within spec, should be 540ohmss +/- 5%

Re: 13 button obc has screen bleed
yes possible, however i prefer to repair stuff, there will come a day when replacements are no longer avialable, and time has marched on and spares to fix the units are NLA. better to replace screen with brand new part while still available.
In my opinion!

Re: Anyone done Sport Automatic -> Manual conversion?
I will be leaving all looms in place so that the Automatic can be put back in the future. Usually i cut the connector off another auto shifter and short them, and then clip it into the loom side, i am strongly against cutting any body looms. Didnt notice any difference in the TPS from standard one, ...
