Re: timing belt wont go back on
Hi tips! I did my timing belt for the first time on last december,so i still remember well what i did. At the first attempt i was a tooth off exactly like you. But then i understand that when you release the tensioner the cam goes one tooth off. So i removed again the belt and i putted the cam a too...

Re: 320i L-Jetronic won't start
Thanks for your help guys!!! Anyway it's alive!!!!! 8) 8) 8) The problem was the wiring connections where the pump relay is mounted. Had been modified for the shitty methane system. I did a tidy up at everything and the old M20 started at the first turn! 8) Probably the old pump was still ok but i t...

320i L-Jetronic won't start
Last sunday, after two weeks of inactivity i wanted to take my E30 for a ride but...surprise,it won't start. I checked spark plugs, cables and the rotor. Everything ok. Then i noticed a thing, once you turn the key you don't listen the fuel pump. So i thought "fuel pump is gone". At this point i ordere...

Re: E46 steering rack
Many thanks Grrrmachine! I've read that page more than one time but i didn't remember that this info was there. Another thing : after some research about the correct rack i found some different versions : some say the best is the purple tag one, some other say the 3 turns one is the one with the part...

E46 steering rack
Good evening everybody! My E30's control arms and track\tie rods are worn out so the time to replace everything is come. To avoid to bolt up and down everything a lot of times i decided to do the power steering conversion too and, after reading a lot about it i think that the best choice could be the...

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
Brian, you was right!!! Today afternoon i went out for a little drive and everything worked well!!!   Probably i bled out the last air in the system past Sunday. It's awesome! Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
Thanks for the answer Brian! So,at this point, the only thing to do should be drive a bit and see what happens...i hope i've been lucky. About fuel economy on gas systems : the same engine have better km\l with petrol than lpg or methane (methane is the worst) but you save money because lpg and meth...

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
I've just did another bleeding of the system. I drove the car for 4-5 kms just to reach the operating temperature. When i stopped in front of my shop to check if everything works the same thing happened : temperature started to go up a bit and coolant into the expansion tank increased the level unti...

Re: Delrin bushings : good idea?
Thank you Jimmy!! So you're a machinist too! 8) I thought about Delrin not just because i've got it in the warehouse but also because i read of several people that have had bad result with polyurethane. I've seen pics of bushings destroyed after few kms (sorry, maybe you prefer to say miles). Delrin ...

Delrin bushings : good idea?
My E30's suspension are really tired, and bushings too. I've got a mechanical shop (i work with CNC milling machines and lathes) and i've got some delrin in my warehouse. I've seen a lot of cars with delrin bushings. So i'd like to make my own bushings. Could it be a good idea? Have you got some exper...

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
LPG is more common here in Italy too. And,yes, lpg gives better performance. About mine there's another thing to say : the system have been installed in 1999. It's still an old generation type. The gas isn't injected but is "axpirated". There's a tube that is connected to the intake tube (the one tha...

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
Thanks!! You're very kind sir! The gas used is methane,is quite common in Italy for two reasons : _ methane is chaper than petrol ; _ in some areas old car are banned for their emission level, and once you put an LPG or methane system the car become an ecologic vehicle. In my zone i've got no polluti...

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
If i'm right, the heater hoses are next to the brake master cylinder on (for me,lhd car) driver side. There are only the attachments tapped with some kind of caps,no hoses...it means that somebody in the past, for a reason that i don't know eliminated the heater :?: :?: :?: I don't know if this has so...

Re: M20B20 bleeding coolant system
Many many thanks Brianmoooore! I really appreciate your help!
So,if i understand well, now i've got to unclamp the upper heater hose and fill the expansion tank untill i'll see coolant flowing out of the heater hose. Am i right?

M20B20 bleeding coolant system
I've just replaced the timing belt and water pump on my '83 320i. Once i put everything back together i started bleeding the cooling system. Looking some guides online i thought it was a straightforward job...i've had some trouble instead. I turned the heater to maximum,i loosen a bit the bleeding s...

Re: inlet manifolds
Some people did this mod on E21s 320\6 ,the carbured version of the M20B20. Back in the 80s,here in Italy, there was a car modder that did a complete kit for the M20B20,that guy was Romeo Ferraris. The kit was made with 3 weber 40 carburators. There was even the option of a modified camshaft availabl...

M20B20 exhaust manifold
One of the pipes between the manifold and the central box has a hole so,specially at idle, the noise isn't so good. At this point i decided to go for a radical solution : new exhaust manifold. I don't want to spend crazy amounts of money. I've seen the prices of famous brands like Supersprint and are...
