Nah, same one! Mart !! But it's coming back to Blighty, maybe Sorn it, maybe sell it, it's too hard to know what to do Hoping one of my family members will take it on, that would be best, anyhow, hope you're doing OK Mart
NS boot pocket can be, if you have an electric aerial, the drain tube drops of the motor housing, so water doesn't drain out thru the hole provided via the rubber hose but end up in the well. Also the air pressure flap in the side panel of the pocket behind the trim has a foam gasket, it rots out, w...
Thanks you' all !! Well the car is still here, had a new windscreen fitted on the old insurance before it runs out! Gonna fit a new cambelt/water pump as I have a set in the garage and it's getting towards 40 k since last change. After that it'll be the last drive UK bound to go up for sale, it'll b...
Well it looks like I'm going to be just another Brexit disaster. With the ever tightening of legislation in both the UK and the EU ( god didn't it used to be so easy?) I'm now in a position where I have to let the old gal go. It's impossible to keep the car here in Germany any longer, I'm not intere...
So after 800 mile round trip I was checkin the beast over and found the forward rear exhaust hanger ( attached to the end silencer ) had split and lost its cradle.
Cleaned up the area a bit, time to get the welder out, new bracket 8 quid.
Good call Ben, s'pose I might do it nyself, but it's thru the insurance so thought it would be easiest to visit one of the big companies, but I'm also aware that the car is old and they could easily stuff it up with a young fitter with no experience, no offence to skilled young fitters!
I'm in the UK for a week with my Cabbi, needs a new windscreen, any recommendations for a clean replacement without stuffing up the matt black trim and clip?
I'm still lurking - still in Germany but my long distance trips are over unless I get a random job - not so much these days, but the beast gets out on the road whenever possible, a good topless blast at 120mph on the autobahn feels fantastic as ever
all good Mart - tiny bit of water in the nearside rear floor - probably related to driving through huge flooded areas in Devon - repeatedly - have to take a close look if there's a blocked sill drainage point or something, otherwise not a squeek from the old girl !
and so time passes - a year later : Dortmund to Dover (MOT - nailed it ) Dover to Mountsorrel, then on to Devon, back to Dover and then Dortmund - 2,495Km round trip - worst weeks weather in the UK but I managed to get in a swim in the sea near Bantham!
PSX_20230823_203946.jpg I'm fine Mart, not so many long distance trips these days, but Leicestershire Devon and Cornwall in September, oh and Dover for the MOT on arrival !! Just checked the last cambelt mileage, time for another in about 10k, I'm gonna wear the old gal out at this rate! I think th...
So the Lowe ICV I fitted ( it was 60 quid or so and pretends to be German but is of course a Chinese product. On close inspection I can see that the vane casting is damaged or ill formed, the edge is rough and incomplete which lets in air even when closed. A cheaper un marked item arrived today and ...
Hey ya'll Its been a while...long period of happy motoring, but now I've got a strange one. The ICV - original BMW one, died, caused cut outs and then a failure to start, I reckon it was pulling the ECU down and caused some kinda short. Disconnecting it allowed me to get home. I bought a 50 quid non...
There seems to be plently of VDO pump motors around, I've bought other cheap makes in the past, they've all been really noisy or fail - so replacing the motor looks like the best option.
I would suggest most likely a head gasket failure - but check the things I listed and it will point you in the right direction - I blew mine up on the A10 south of Paris on my way to Bordeaux a few years ago - Head gasket had been incorrectly fitted as one of the location pegs was missing setting th...
Sorry I do my own engineering...car hasn't been to a garage in 10 years apart from mot, I know a couple of engineering shops in Dortmund who know M20's but I guess that's not really helpful ...too far away.
mmmm...well my French is better than my German which is a pretty crap .. very hard to learn properly, at least for me - I also lived in Ibiza
and learnt some Catalan - also a bit tricky too... thank god everyone speaks a bit of English - apart from the French - on principle !!!
