Re: Turning over but won't fire up!
Fuel pump only kicks when bridged. There were sparks when I first started but no sign of any now from leads or coil when turning engine.

Re: Turning over but won't fire up!
Swapped it over but no joy. The engine is turning over but I have no spark! I have pins 30/87/87 bridged to get pump running but still nothing. I have also swapped over a crankshaft sensor (old one was badly damaged) from another e30 as it needed replacing. Confused.com

Re: Turning over but won't fire up!
In relation to the OBC I had a look at the technical section of the website and it says that three attempts at putting in the code will stop it from being started. Could this be part of my problem when trying to start it normally (not bypassing). How do I go about resetting the code - or is this som...

Re: Turning over but won't fire up!
It's a 1990 model. I tried disconnecting the battery but no joy. It has an OBC so what do I do with that?

Re: Turning over but won't fire up!
Update - - I have bridged the pin 30 & 87 of the fuel pump and thankfully it's working. - I have tested pin 85 & 87 with a bulb and they are also fine - I I have also bridged the DME relay (30, 87 & 87) and it is turning over but failing to start! - I tested the ECU and there is no power to the pins...

Turning over but won't fire up!
Picked up a 325i convertible in need of repair last week. There was no key so I got one off bmw and it thankfully worked! Car is trying to start but there is no noise coming from the fuel pump. I swapped over a working fuel pump to see if that was the problem but no joy! Before you ask there is fuel...

Re:
Those wheels really set it off. Have a similar spec car but interior is very poor so I imagine I will be doing the same as you and replacing the carpet. Did you buy a new or a second hand carpet?

Re: Advice Required
The mechanic told me it was the whole thing but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the centre support - as that's where the knocking noise is coming from. Garage is closing up so it was a bit of a rush job on his behalf! This is an automatic as well so i'll start hunting once I have done a proper exa...

Re: Advice Required

Re: Advice Required
Right so they can do that when I eventually get round to the respray. It's in my garage now with dehumidifier in it - just making sure there no moisture in it! I wasn't aware the cabrio is different to the saloon - you learn something new every day! Next question i'll post in proper section (tech)!!...

Re: Advice Required
Will do tomorrow (on ankle biter duty today). I took both front wings off today and it's not as bad as he was making out. There was a load of sand at the bottom of each of the (blocked) drain! So annoying as it so easy to keep clean! The inner structure is fine with superficial surface rust! There i...

Advice Required
Picked up an old 88 e30 convertible a while back and eventually sent it into local garage to check it over. Three things stand out and I am just wondering is it financially viable to fix it! 1) Drive shaft is knackered - hence the knocking noise going from 2nd to 3rd (autobox)! 2) Brake lines all ne...
