Re: Fan kicking on too late

I had a similar issue. It was driving me nuts and making me really nervous sitting at the lights waiting for it to kick in. I had a rad blow up as well at 65mph. I think it was blocked though as it hasn't done it since I replaced it. My little get around for piece of mind was to fit an override swit...

Re: Lambda sensor

Good point. So which way round is the right way round? Long wire to the front or back?

I don't like the idea of having them unplugged. But if it'll get me.home and stop the car from cutting out I'll take it.

Lambda sensor

Guys. I have a question regarding my Lambda's. On my e36 m52 there are only 2 sensors. One for each bank. There was was a fault with the car whereby it would start. Run like shit with no torque and be a bit odd at idle, and then not start until it had been left for 12 hours. After months and months ...

2 quick questions

Okay.... Prepare yourselves..... The countdown has begun!! 2 weeks till fit day. 1) I will be running m52 block and m52 gearbox. The wiki seems to think i'll need an M20 gearbox crossmember. I can see this being true but ive hunted ebay high and low so before i start begging for one i thought i'd do...

HEY HO HI!

Do you happen to have a disc rear beam left?
and secondly a Gearbox Cross-member from a manual M20?

Cheers!

Re: Home made sumps

Thanks guys!

Only reason I was worried really is people putting e36 sumps up on ebay labeled as e34 and then promptly conning the sh*t out of you.

I'll find a solution. Eventually...........

Home made sumps

So as I'm sure all you guys know finding an e34 sump is difficult and expensive!! So, as I have access to huge hydraulic shears, press brakes and laser cutters how difficult would it be to fab one up? I'm thinking steel (or maybe stainless for absolutely no reason) but I could go aluminium if needs ...

Auto manual swap.

Got myself a 318i auto and it's lovely to drive, but every time I get in I think, wouldn't this be fabulous as a m44 turbo? I've seen a thread stating all the bits I need to throw it in the front and get it running. There's quite a lot I decided. Rocker, sump, blah blah. whilst I'm in there is it wo...

Re: Suspension struts

Thanks guys. Just got to bite the bullet and choose a set now. I looked at some b4's but can't find a set (yet) that come with springs too. Do you know anything about apex? The market is so saturated with crap it's hard to tell what good, what's stupidly pverpriced for no reason, and what's made in ...

Suspension struts

My 318i saloon handles like a wet sack of old sponges. I've been browsing all of the obvious places for shocks and stuff as mine are buggered. (Drop links and bushes already on their way) but I cant decide wether to go to 51mm or not. I'm currently running 45mm struts with a 19mm roll bar. As it lef...

Re: My E30 318 auto keeps dying!

Its a 1988 318i. Sorry probably should of been a little more specific there. To be honest with you, I think it's done both in the past. Most of the time it just drops like its been disconnected though. This is my first auto box car and it confuses me. Sometimes, it feels like the engine and gearbox ...

Oil and filter, Spark plugs, the coil and king post lead, coolant temperature sensor. The car has a catastrohpic stopping issue. it'll just die when driving. You'll...

It's a 55 litre tank. Do you mean the ally sender is dented? Because that's fine. The pump assembly itself works fine too

The tachometer just dies out with the engine as you would expect it to. (Which is a plus if your a loud music fan...) Sorry if I missed your point there?

Re: Engine cuts out

1988 318i auto here. I've got a similar problem where it will just die. Not nessecarily under load or off load. It dosent cough and splutter, just plain stops. Sometimes I can start it on the throttle but the majority of the time it's into neutral coast for as long as I can and restart it. When I fi...

I also have a guage problem.

It has decided that half a tank is empty and the light comes on... It is correct! I've replaced the sender and done the nut. Twice! Anymore ideas?

318i Fuel guage problems

Hi everyone. My fuel guage seems to be stuck on 3/4 of a tank. I know full well it dosent have that in it. As when you bang it on the bottom it sounds emptier than the pub on a Sunday evening. Is there a way of telling if it's the guage or the sender or the wire between? Also just curious as to what...

My rotting body

So let's begin by saying my e30 has seen better days in its lower halfs. On the rear valance around the towing eye and exhaust outlet it's going a little rusty. So I've decided to cut out the crap. With my wire wheel. I have now discovered that there is no such thing as a rear valance repair panel. ...
