Re: Clutch or Master Cylinder on 325i

I think it is still the original clutch with 85k on clock.
Do the kits include the release bearing?

Clutch or Master Cylinder on 325i

Clutch has always been stiff and engaged right at the bottom of its travel, but it is now getting difficult to engage gears particularly when cold, will replacing the slave and master cylinders solve this or does it need a new clutch as well? Release bearing? squeals when the pedal is depressed, but...

It unlocks when parked, which is strange. It also does it when loked with the key, bypassing the alarm.

Central locking - Unlocking itself

Sorry, another central locking question! The doors lock and unlock fine with key or remote fob, but after a while it unlocks itself. The alarm stays on though. The pin for the red and black wire in the door connector looks a bit iffy, but i assume from other threads that this is a live feed and the ...

Oil leak from head gasket? - 325i

Engine is losing oil from the top of the engine, not sure wether it is the rocker cover gasket or the head gasket.
There are stains on the rocker cover, but the head itself seems clean. Not sure if this is due to the heat burning the oil off in that area.
Block is covered with oil.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Just collected the car, it was the rear subframe bushes, not the trailing arm ones that needed doing. It took them 8 hours @ Ԛ£44 +vat per hour to do those and another 2 to do the cambelt, +25 quid for the bushes - A grand total of Ԛ£590.76

As the E30 was sold in the usa, where crash tests in the 1970's and 1980's were much tougher than the european ones. The car is much much stronger than its european contempories such as the ford sierra, vauxhall cavalier etc etc. I know which I would rather have a crash in.

Even the best battery is going to drain if you don't use the car because of things like the clock, radio and alarm system. Some systems can drain it in a few weeks. If the car is in a garage, get hold of a trickle charger that will maintain the battery, some just plug into the cigarette lighter.

To be honest i dont think they know what to charge, this morning, they said it was a maximum price so i'm hoping it will be less when i go and collect it.
Unfortunately, the MOT ran out last week so they got me by the balls this time

Hi
Just spotted a hole the size of a 50p in my cat this afternoon, MOT due soon and as its a late 92 car, i can't remove it. Checked the price on ECP an it is over Ԛ£500 +VAT! Any suggestions?

Did anyone see the article in Autocar a couple of months ago - 30 years of the 3 series? Some bloke at BMW made his 3 series into an estate at home, showed it to the board and they decided to put it into production!
That makes it cool!

check all your hose clips are tight, they slacken off after a while and you can't always see a visible leak.

Hi
I had exactly the same problem last week, changed the viscous coupling -part cost less than Ԛ£40 and took less than an hour. Even in todays heat wave the car runs cooler. Jetblasted the rad and the heat exchanger for the air con and all problems were cured!!
