Water Ingress Rant

Another summer, another water leak!! I've had this car for 15 years, and I have spent that 15 years dealing with 15 different water leaks!! Bear in mind my car only sees water when I'm washing it, this time I've got water in the drivers footwell. This happened about 2-3 years ago, and resulted in da...

Re: Dashboard Covers

I ordered one direct from Australia just before Christmas. My dash has no cracks and obviously I want to try and keep it that way. It fits fine although as my car is a dry weather no salt on the road toy I've not driven the car since getting it, does come with self adhesive velcro but I'm not plann...

Dashboard Covers

Anyone had any experience with these? The cracks (minimal) are the only unsightly thing left with my interior. Got a lot going on these days so can't see myself swapping a dash out anytime soon.

Re: M20 Injector Loom

Thats not part of the injector loom, most likely signal sharing to the autobox ECU via an add on loom which would explain why its plugged into the engine temp sensor, most likely a manually switchable box? Yes it is a switchable auto.. which essentially means it was plugged in correctly. So back to...

M20 Injector Loom

Guys we’ve been chasing an over fueling/stalling issue on my facelift 320i auto. I won’t bore you with all the details but after numerous time spent testing ICV’s, AFM’s, spark etc etc. we think the loom maybe plugged in wrong which has led to the sparks becoming soiled. In a nut shell the dark plug...

TPS?
Potentially as it's one of the few parts I have not changed in the last 10-15 year since I've owned the car, and that's because it's been NLA since I first checked way back in 15-16. Whenever they come up for sale they're old and crusty and people want like £200-300 for one

The injectors may be leaking so it loses pressure when stood. That would explain the long cranking time.

Ben
I’m starting to think this as well. However wouldn’t explain the struggle when it’s idling or when I pull the butterfly and it stumbles and struggles? Or would it.

Re: M20 Help Needed

I take it you have done the plugs and tested the plug leads? Checked the rotor arm and dizzy cap for cracks and tracking? I am still leaning towards vacuum leak as they can be hard to find as only a small leak can cause problems and difficult to see on a smoke test. Try brake cleaner or remove some...

Screen wash problems

Okay so last year just before the car went into storage an issue arose with the screen wash. When I pressed the stalk the screen wash would come on and not stop spraying from the nozzles. The only way to stop it was to take the key out and leave it for a minute or so. I’ve tried two good used wiper ...

Re: DME Issues

The Motronic ECUs should be 'plug & play' with no recoding necessary - all the code is built into the EPROM chip. In your case, I would check the DME relay as a first step, replacing it if ncessary. I had a similar problem with an E34 535iSE, which turned out to be a crack in one of the fusible lin...

DME Issues

So for the first time in my 15 years of ownership, my 320i let me down yesterday and wouldn’t spark. Seems I was getting no signal from the DME to the DME relay. Then suddenly it kicked in and the car turned over. Obviously then it was hard to diagnose further if it’s not faulting. So I thought the ...

It may just be a blocked scuttle drain (elephant's trunk).

Ben
Surely if it's now coming into the footwells, the waters sat for so long it's destroyed the foam gasket? Albeit the original cause is likely the blocked drain.

Re: Scuttle repair

Yeah, driver side grill is leaking water through Well you need to take it to a place like Munich Legends or BMR. Both are south of London. This is either a rusted out bulkhead, or the foam gasket around your heater box has perished. Pray it's the later. Either way both can only really be confirmed ...

Pretty much all E39's are ULEZ and CAZ compliant, my 1997 540i is, you just need to get the required data from BMW and forward it to TFL
