Re: Advcie on buying a 525tds please.

Oh really? Well that is a big contributing factor. I read they were on the 40-50 mpg range. What you have said has put me off then.

Re: Advcie on buying a 525tds please.

Well yes I agree with that, but when I would be paying less than a grand for the car and it will do 15 more miles per gallon than my current car, it makes sense.

Advcie on buying a 525tds please.

I am doing a lot of miles in my new job, so am thinking about going for a diesel. I have my eye on an L-reg (E34?) 525tds. However I have no experience of diesel or turbo charged engines. How do I check the turbo unit is good for example?

Thanks

Mine averages anywhere between 40 od - 60 odd miles per £10!
:o If we say petrol is 90p per litre then that's only 16-24mpg. Not good. I thought the M50 was better on fuel than the M20?

Step by step/useful info on M50 conversion?

As per title I am considering going for an M50 conversion in an E30. Do people have any links to useful sites or articles?

Also anyone know the typical 1/4mile time for an M50E30?

Re: E30 top speed providing you have the power?

i would like mine to be doing around 120-130Mph @3k rpm in 6th for nice economical crusing. No disrespect, but where in this country can you cruise at those kind of speeds? I have hit these speeds a a fair few times, but not for any long period of time, and this was on empty motorways in the middle...

I do know of an E30 with a YB engine. It was featured in Revs (when it was a decent mag) YEARS ago. A white one IIRC, think it may have had M3 arches too, or may have originally been an M3.

So it can, and has been done.
