Re: 1990 BMW E30 325i SE
Wow thats immaculate mate, doesnt seem to be a spec of rust on it. Have you treated it yourself or has it just been really well looked after this whole time? That interior is immaculate too. Thanks! It is in really good condition. There has been some rust repairs in the past, where the previous own...

Factory/Dealership Fitted Alarm
Hi all, Wondered if anybody can help with a factory/dealership fitted alarm and remote central locking on my 1990 325i SE? There doesn't seem to be much info out there on these, but I understand it is a 3G mk1 system (black single button fob with corner missing) - I believe these were fitted to e36 ...

E36 M43B18 Flat spots
Hi all, Looking for some help with my 1998 E36 touring 318i (M43). When cold and warm there is a clear flat spot between 2000-2500, and further flat spots through the rev range further on, and seems to be getting noticeably worse. Also noticed when the flat spots occur, the fuel economy needle fluct...

Re: How much is it worth? E36 316i Auto 35k miles
£500-£1000 it what I was thinking, and seems about same from looking at prices auctions finish too.
I know what you mean, least desirable engine, body type and gearbox - could be nice as a daily round town though.
I was seriously hoping it was a 2 door!!

How much is it worth? E36 316i Auto 35k miles
My girlfriends grandma has offered me her 1995 E36 316i auto 4 door, getting rid of my daily soon and thinking it might be a decent run about - despite being 316i and auto! She has owned it since new, covering only 35k miles with FSH. It is 100% original, and is immaculate condition inside and out. ...

Re: Red to Blue Coolant
remove thermostat, pull top hose off and pump water through it whilst its running I'm guessing to flush the heater matrix I will need to leave it on full hot also? So basically remove thermostat, pull top hose off, put hose pipe in, fire it up and keep the water running through until it runs out cl...

Red to Blue Coolant
Hi all,
I've currently got red coolant in my e30, and I am wanting to change this for blue coolant which should be in it.
How can I ensure that I don't mix the two? Will the usual flushing process mentioned in the wiki suffice?

I find the same, my daily is a vw up! and the clutch is unbelievably light in comparison. I prefer the heavier clutch of my e30

Re: Boot Light Switch
Disconnect the LH brown/black. It probably goes to an an alarm. Replace the bulb, refit the light and the switch, and see if it behaves then. Wire on the far left is red/green BTW, not black. That's just an outer sheath. Disconnected the LH brown/black - it now works as it should! Thanks. Will disc...

Re: Boot Light Switch
Remove the switch and unplug the wire from it without disturbing the wire as much as possible. Does the light stay on or go off? I have removed the switch and the light stays on. I've took the lamp out at the moment so the battery doesn't get drained whilst its garaged up. Light wired up to constan...

What would make it fail to switch off? I have held the switch pressed in for about 10 secs and still didn't switch off. Wire going to the lamp is fineBrianmoooore wrote:Difficult to see how it can fail 'on'. Take it out and check it over, along with the wire to the lamp.

Boot Light Switch
My boot light stays on continuously even when the light switch is pressed, so I am presuming faulty boot lid light switch.
Anybody know if it is the same part as the interior light switch for the doors? Or specific part. Cant find it on realoem

Suprisingly, this is now resolved (for the meanwhile). Came to unlock the car by the key one day and the alarm started going off, pressed the central locking button and it engaged the locks. It has now worked ever since fine!

Re: Central Locking with remote
Chances are it's the remote fob that's the problem, since it's the bit that suffers the most abuse. Maybe it's time to see what ebay or the E36 forums can offer? You could get an identical fob, recode it to match your existing fob, and see if that works. I'll give it a go, but just seems strange fo...

I've checked the power feed to the alarm control unit, had power going to it from the red wire you mentioned. Checked all the fuses also and none have blown - would've been simple fix. Okay thank you. I will check and let you know, ideally I would to get it working again using the dealer fitted system instead of fitting an aftermarket setup. I've never come across another e30 with bmw remote central locking, which is nice, but there's literally nothing on the forums regarding it. ...
