And it looks about 1.5 times longer than the standard. What prop shaft is used. Does it mount to existing body mounts or does that need fabricating aswell.

Re: Crank sensor not working? No spark or fuel help
If the battery is in the boot there is fuseable link off the positve lead tuckedbehind the carpet and wraped in black insulation. If this has blown it will not allow power to the dme. Easy to check with a volt meter or a physical check to see if the the fuse has blown. Not sure if this fuse exists o...

Re: Brake pedal gone rock hard.
Sounds like servo has gone, so no assistance on the brake brake pedal.
Try pressing the brakes with the engine off the while keeping the pedal down turn on the engine. The pedal should compress some more. Also do you get a air sucking noise when the pedal is repeatedly pressed.

Re: How to remove this cap and replace seal?
I work in the aircraft industry. They have a rubber layer on the jaws originally designed to remove stiff electrical plugs (screw in style) without damaging the external casing of the plug. Not exactly a pipe wrench but same style you could put tape on for similar effect

Re: How to remove this cap and replace seal?
As well as the heat and freeze method, although its push fit held with an o-ring, trying to twist and pull at the same time.
I used a pipe wrench with soft jaws to hold it. But engine was removed so much easier to get the leverage on it

Same with the white spirit (much cheaper than brake cleaner) Easier to remove bonnet an lie it down glue side up. Leave the white spirit about 5 mins to really soften the glue then use a kitchen towel or cloth and it will wipe off easily.

Re: Diff rebuild / ratio swap
Easiest option is find a z3 diff from a bigger engined z3. 188 diff. You can't mix and match medium and small case but can e36 Medium and e30 medium. And same for small if you wanted. Changing final drive ratio isn't really a diy, it requires shims and dial gauges to get get the correct mesh. And th...

Could be the hydraulic tappets. There is a bleed procedure which is easily googled. Something like run it at 2k revs for 10 mins. Can't remember exactly.

Re: Wishbone "Eccentric rear Bush"
It is meant to be rigid, as in not rotate in the rubber but rotate the rubber slightly with a twisting action. The solid bushes are more stiff but the weight of a car and turning forces they do flex just fine just without the slop of the non solid bushes. For normal driving you probably won't notice...

I think the other canister you mention is the air/oil separator known as ccv. It's not needed but some sort of catch can will be needed I just left it on. They can fail according to the internet but mine works fine and I'll look at changing it if it ever fails.

All depends on gearbox. I'm guessing your using the ZF5 speed so that ratio of 3.25 will be good.

Re: Valve seal removal
Even if they are still good they will be 20+ years old and have potential to leak after you refit the head. Up to you but I changed mine while the head was off as a not to expensive precaution. I had a workshop remove and fit mine while the valves were lapped. But I believe it can be done with a soc...

Re: First Gear Only Engages Below 3-5mph
If the syncromesh was wearing out it would engage the gear and cause a crunch. Something is not releasing properly clutch wise. Either pressure plate broke, friction plate binding on the gearbox input shaft, master or slave cylinders breaking down internally. Or an air leak in the hydraulic system. ...

Maybe the wrong size belt. If it's maxed out on adjustment. And a slight squeak on lock is normal as the pump is fully loaded with no where for the fluid to go.

Re: Gearbox or Clutch issues?
Sounds like master or slave cylinders going or air in the system. Check the foot well and bell housing for fluid. Even if there isn't fluid present they can leak internally not giving the correct fluid displacement to fully disengage the clutch. They arnt to expensive to change both but the master i...

Yes shell's the same so will accept any e30 engine and an e36 conversion has been well documented. It's fairly straight forward with a few bits need making or if money isn't an issue it can all be bought ready made.
