Automatic transmission problem
I have a problem with the Auto box on my 325ise. the gear change from 1st to 2nd hangs for a second or 2 before jolting in properly into gear, the problem is worse at higher revs. I am going to do a fluid filter and gasket change on the box at some point this week. If that doesn't solve the problem ...

Some paint prepping questions.
Just wondering if this is a good strategy for derusting and treating the inner arches. The worst of the back arches has rust and a couple of small holes so what I'm planning is: To take the affected areas back to metal with the grinder/wire brush/elbow grease, weld where necessary, treat surface wit...

I know now, when I checked it a few weeks ago I probably didn't plug it in properly or something.Brianmoooore wrote:Only lights up when the window circuit is live. Nothing to do with the rest of the panel/instrument lights.

Those mounting clips that you screw into, ie. the type that are used to mount the speakers, bonnet catch etc... what are they called? I need to replace one that's snapped in half.

I've been getting this problem intermittently too.
Another question; When I start the car the dash flashes 'check', which goes out as soon as I press the brake pedal, is this normal??

Illuminated window switch working but not illuminating
What could cause this? The switch in there at the moment currently has blown bulbs, however when I switch with a working switch that doesn't light up either. I have a new working switch to replaced the old one tonight, however it won't light up. The switch and the windows work perfect it just doesn'...

I'll bet that's seat belt damage, does the seat belt retract fully and quickly? Mine had (and still does) chips here and where it kept getting shut in the door by quick exits and the seatbelt not retracting quick enough and the shutting the door on to it. Thinking about it I don't think it closes a...

Thomas, the rot is not that bad...mine was in a far worse state that that. Polsta has a point, a full resto is costly if undertaken correctly. good list of jobs to be getting on with there bud, RE the heater blower, it could well just requite removal and re greasing, as they were installed on dry bearings and these tend to seize up over time. the rear demister most likely doesn't work as the metal contacts on the actual screen could be br...

DIY Welding books and resources
I am planning to teach my self to weld very soon. Can anyone recommend a good book or some online resources to help me to do this? I have the regular two interior lights, I would like to install a third in the centre next to the check panel. There is a slot there where an interior light could be mounted, is the wiring there to accomodate for one? and either way can it be done?

Re: glove box lamp location - electrics misbehaving now
Ye I understand that. My knowledge of electrics is very basic... so work with me here, if there was a bulb in the circuit, would the fuse still have blown as l would like toinstall a lamp in my glove box without the fuse blowing every time I go to use it.

Re: glove box lamp location - electrics misbehaving now
Ok fuse 21 was blown. Replaced fuse and now the radio turns on and the rev meter is working correctly. The right indicator is still going like the clappers though. What would be causing that? Did fuse 21 because the bulb was missing from the circuit?

glove box lamp location - electrics misbehaving now
A quick and easy one: I am trying to workout where the lamp is mounted in the glove box but I can't work it out, only had a quick look this morning though. On the bracket the hole where the switch is located does not contain a switch so I need a new one of those for a start, I tried touching the two...

Plugged in the gong, was about to remove the ambient temp sensor to test when I noticed some very faint numbers on the obc display that changed when i pressed different buttons.
So it looks like it just needs some new bulbs!
