Cheers, couldn't remember where I got it from last time. Somehow managed to fry every relay in it including the processor!

M30B35 Engine swap - looking for a chip?
I've not been around in a while but I bought a processor for my ECU maybe a year or 2 ago from one of the members here. I'm after another one, is anyone around who still does that?
Cheers

£12 to get in, £30 to race. If you're racing bring your driving license, a helmet and a safe vehicle. It's Run What Ya Brung all day, that means no sharing the track with other series and so shedloads of runs! :) I've sorn'd my E30 for the winter so providing the weathers not too nasty I'll be racin...

Daft question about fuel filters?
This is probably a stupid question, but I've just yanked the fuel filter out of my E30, was the standard one for the 318is. Can I replace it for the one to go with the M30B35 without any issues? I've already got some kind of issue which has caused 2 fuel pumps to go pop and want to make sure I'm not...

Jack it up, get under that fother mucker and see where the leak is coming from.

Re: Fuelling/electrics problem - any ideas appreciated
Cheers for the replies. My engines listed in my sig: M30B35. The old fuel pump was definitely toast, hooked it up to a power supply and nothing. Try to field some of these other Q's: What was the engine temp when it happened? The engine does run warm but at the time I think it was just over half way...

Fuelling/electrics problem - any ideas appreciated
Out for a drive one night the E30 just stopped running, in the middle of a roundabout. Electrics were on and engine would turnover but not fire. After getting brought home on the back of a low loader I found that it was the fuel pump that had packed up, so I took the assembly out of the tank, swappe...

Re: Engine splutter at random intervals - advice please
When you find it, you can check if its the culprit by removing it and using short wire links to join together pins 30 and both 87s of its socket, then driving the car like this. Remove the links when you stop the engine. You sir are a genius. This seems to have solved it. It stuttered once or twice...

Yeah, that's all good. I keep thinking back to the whine though, if the alternator is on it's way out could that cause the issue?

Re: Engine splutter at random intervals - advice please
Found it! Under the dash like you said. Took it out, looked like it had a little oil in there, I clean it up, reseated it but still has the splutter. Will try short wire later and let you know.

Re: Engine splutter at random intervals - advice please
I have absolutely no idea where the DME relay is, I can't see anything in the engine bay that looks like what comes up on Google images for E30 DME relay. But, I have had all the big fuses out of the fuse box on the n/s of the bay and reseated them. This may or may not be a coincidence but afterward...

Re: Engine splutter at random intervals - advice please
For the stutter, open up and clean the contacts in the DME relay, or replace it. The source of a whine is likely to be the alternator, but I can't tell you if it's a death whine or no from here. Check that the drive belt isn't too tight, and consider running the engine for a minute with the belt of...

Re: Engine splutter at random intervals - advice please
Perhaps there's some crud in the fuel tank, or fuel hoses, causing an intermittent blockage. Have you replaced the fuel filter recently? No but that was the same line of thinking that I had. My pickup did something similar not too long ago (minus the whine!) and it was as simple as a blocked fuel f...

Engine splutter at random intervals - advice please
I've recently had to be brought home on the back of a low loader when my fuel pump just died. So I've had the pump out of the tank, fitted a new one and the car runs again. But occasionally it'll splutter like it wants to cut out, and at the same time the MPG gauge at the bottom of the dash shoots a...

Fuel pump rebuilt. Bit of a f**k about since the pump I got off ebay was different to the one installed. I had to adapt the wiring connectors and replace the fuel pipe, plus the rubber seat at the bottom doesn't quite fit as it should. But it's back together. Twice when trying to refit the pump in t...

Re: Fuel pump problems - dropped into tank
You don't need to drain the tank; you just need a length of stiff wire and some needlenose pliers, and a lot of patience. I've dropped the strainer in more than once, and fished it out through the pump hole eventually. I had a feeling that was the answer. I have been at it with a wire coat hanger, ...

To be fair, as useless as that diff is it has stood up to some serious punishment. I'm sideways round any corner I can get away with and I do rolling burnouts every time I move off. It is whining a bit now but still has a bit of life in it!

Re: Syko's M30 E30
It's the standard diff from the 318is, not sure of ratio but it's open so you put any power through it and it just spins one wheel while the other sits there doing sweet FA. Completely useless.
Like I say, got a .64 one coming soon, we'll see how it goes with that.
