Order already placed with DanThe. It does look top quality! Looking forward to getting it all fittedBrianmoooore wrote:Standard pipework won't fit the E46 rack without modification, or DanThe does a rather nice bespoke set.

Re:
Physics. If you are moving the rack the same distance with fewer turns you have to use more effort to do it. Ben Makes sense mate, physics not one of my strong suits :? I'll be looking for the associated p/steer bits for it too now. I hope it's well worth it. Certainly make parallel parking easier!!

Re:
You do know that the steering will be even heavier with this rack? Ben  Any reason for this? It couldn't get any worse on my car really. It's been lowered, has a strut brace so I thought that might be a contributing factor. It's horrible to live with but I can manage. Just hate the turn to tur...

Steering Rack change on 320i
Hi As I'm using the E30 more and more I'm fed up of the slow rack, the car not having p/steering doesn't help. If I want to swap it with a later rack do I have to change the UJ's also? I'm not doing an engine conversion yet, in the future will do. Also thoughts on these items please (is this rack an...

Re: 320i - Hissing brakes
Yes indeed, a whoosh
So, seems like I can ignore it, well for the short term anyway.
I will check the pipes though just in case. Just broke a 318, could have used the bits from that if possible but it's gone now. Damn!
Thanks fellas

320i - Hissing brakes
Hi folks The car seems to have developed a hissing sound when pressing the brake pedal. When switched off the pedal seems hard and with engine on the hissing comes from the glovebox area every time the brake pedal is pressed. Braking seems a little less effective than before (car has uprated discs a...

320i Steering rack upgrades - thoughts please
Afternoon all I've read the Wiki but just wanted to get some user feedback from members who have upgraded their steering racks. My 320i has a manual rack and although I can live with the heavy steering it's the lock to lock I hate. I have an opportunity to get a Z3 rack. Anyone done a conversion her...

Fitting Z3 steering rack to 320i - upgrade
Hi folks I want to upgrade to a Z3 rack on the E30 which currently has a manual rack. Been doing a fair bit of reading and there seems to be various opinions with most saying the Z3 rack is by far the best etc although some have concerns about twitchiness at high speeds. Has anyone on here carried o...

nice car does it catch the speed bumps much? i have 10 of the pyramid type speed bumps taking the kids to school and then back home and then to nursery with the youngest and with home time pick up so that makes 60 bumps to drive over a day so i had to raise the rear suspension to give the exhaust a...

Thanks Chris. I was thinking about leaving it de-badged but just couldn't help myself!!
Few projects I'm considering, mainly an engine conversion
Funds permitting of course.
I may have to raise the ride height a bit too!

Polsta, nice looking interiors mate and I know what you mean about the different styles in relation to the seat design. Might be something to do with the horn buttons on the tech I matching the houndstooth. My car has the check cloth so the tech II will look great. Can't wait to get it fitted. I've ...

Thanks chaps. I'll have a go at the SI batteries to see if that changes anything. Would I be right in saying that the green ...

Inspection Lights after reset
Afternoon all I bought one of those Draper reset tools and reset the inspection lights on the car this weekend. It seems to have worked but I'm a bit confused as to why the first 2 green lights do not come on when I put the ignition on but the next 3 do. Is this correct or should all 5 come on? If s...

Re: 4x100 spare wheel neededtoday anyone local?
Sorry to hijack the thread but it's on the same subject, spare wheels that is!! My 320i doesn't have a spare, what size should I get for it? It's on 15" rims at the moment so will a 15" spare fit in the well or do I have to get a 14" with a higher profile tyre?
Cheers
