Either put you parents or any old person that you know with alot of driving experience on your insurance as a named driver. For some reason this always brings my insurance down by over half.

Re: Steering rack
Is that just to save me having to pull it all out again to renew the rest of the tie rod assembly in a couple of years time or is it a benefit now as well? I suppose your right, For that price I might as well do it properly once.

Steering rack
Looking to do a rack conversion on my e30. Just checking there are not any more parts I will need
-New rack
-Power steering lines
-e30 track rod ends
Also any more information on what rack to go for. I am currently favouring the Z3 rack due to the rack being linear.
thanks

Im after a little bit of advice. I have bought a 318 (m40) cab. For the next couple of years insurance dictates that a 1.8 is the only option. I have had the car for a few months and spent a fair bit on the old girl. Both rear arches have been replaced and there is virtually no rust on the car. Mech...

Re: Aftermarket Alarm/Immobiliser Recommendations?
im not a fan of any of the Clifford alarms. The wire is poor quality and they often only last a few years. I use a toad alarm system on mine but had a cobra on my last vehicle.
are you looking to install your self or get the alarm installed by a pro?

Re: will the following leathers fit my cabbi
in general rear seats do not fit but you can get the fronts to fit in with a bit of work on the basis. All front seats have the mechanism to tip forward but you just have to install the pulleys. Its the rear seats you have the problem with.

Re: will the following leathers fit my cabbi
I just had a full cabby retrim in black leather with one bolster repair. It cost me £560. They have done a pretty good job. Not anywhere near as good as a quality trimmer.... got some seats done for my mums celica turbo and they are beautiful but they did cost £1500. But for £560 + Cost of the old s...

Re: E30 Convertible Performance
I wouldnt worry too much about performance in a convertible. The handling is nowhere near as sharp as in the hard top and on its heavier so any engine in the convertible will still be slower than the hardtop. I have a 318 (M40) convertible. It's by no means quick but it will sit very happily at 70is...

Re: central locking problems 91 318i cabby
I had this issue on mine. If you remove the drivers kick panel and speaker you will get to the central locking module. Open it up and look to see if anything is damaged. Mine had a piece that had come unsoldered. Pushed it together and the locks popped.

Re: e30 leather seats???
the front seats on a convertible are a different height to the ones on a coupe because the sill is different. You would need to swap the seat subframe over (or just accept the driving position change)

Re: 4 to 5 stud wheel adaptor
I would be interested around the £150 mark. The problem with adapters is that people buying adapters are buying wheels and tires at the same time. Theres very few people who can affod to do that without watching the pennies!

I was actually planning on only doing the front. I am trying to compensate for the weight really. The car looks like it sits much higher at the front (mostly an optical illusion I know due to the wheel arches). I am only after a 15mm-25mm drop. It should also help a touch with wait distribution and ...

Re: Quite liking the look of this, here, badboy! :-)
If the choice of sound system components is anything to go by (new to the bmw game but not the audio... yes I know, I'm still a child!) then this has been done on a budget with lots of corners cut. Pretty car though!
