Re: E30 OEM suspension
Does anyone know whether there were any geometry adjustments to account for the 15mm lower set up, or does the sport have slightly more negative camber? I fitted H&R OE Sport* springs a while back and the negative camber is a bit excessive. At some point I'll look for options on eccentric bushes on ...

Re: Going rate for an air con kit
Have you guys converted for R134a?
A few years ago I had my factory fit system charged with an "R12 alternative" - I can't remember the name now, but it worked great for a couple of years.

have you got all the weight hanging at the back?
I'm sure jacking up under the diff will help... and then if you have a big bolt to bodge up into the bush that'll help too

Re: Rear Subframe removal
I've ended up doing this job twice - and not straight forward either times... The first time I used a tap and graunched a bolt up the hole as you have done. The second time without the tap/bolt available I supported the whole assembly under the diff with a jack to stop all the weight hanging aft of ...

Yeah, I've seen it all available from GSF a year or so back but not anymore. I'll give them a call, may they'll be able to advise. I've seen a little on eBay but not a full range.
Thanks

Cylinder head parts
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a source for cylinder head parts (valves, guides, eccentrics etc.) Or would BMW direct be your only trusted supplier?
Many thanks

M54 engine swap???
A friend of mine is looking to do some work on his mates E30. At the moment it's not much more than a shell, but he's got hold of an M54B30 engine and is considering fitting that. I'm perfectly happy with maintaining/working on my car although kept standard have no idea when it comes to engine swaps...

Re: camshaft replacement
Assuming a standard replacement part, you shouldn't have to if they're all in good condition. Checking/adjustment of the eccentrics however would be necessary to account for any changes between old and new cams.

Re: Brake Pedal Return Problem
Hi, just digging up this old thread as it's relevant.
When lengthening the pull rod "until it just lifts up to its stop" would that be the bracket with the brake light switch on it? I'm assuming I want a small gap just 1mm or so?
Thanks.

I've heard that the Toyo's are pretty awful in the wet, which is always something I'd consider. At the moment I've 195 55's on the bottle tops but think I'll go for the supper skinny's for the winter and keep the RZ's with the a set of Bridgestone Adrenaline for the summer. That will most likely cha...

Re: Hit by a lawnmower
Yeah, I have the one good quarter now
It's difficult to tell how far they blended the paint but I notice they have gone all the way along the bottom of the door, its a shame they didn't repair the scabby bits at the bottom with it just sprayed over - but I cant expect that.

Re: Hit by a lawnmower
Thanks, I'm very happy with the result and the paint is looking great. Next job will be to get some wax oil/dinitrol down into the joints to future proof it as best as possible. They've replaced the quarter panel and the outer arch. They finally let the truth slip, and apparently the first quarter p...

Re: Hit by a lawnmower
Coming into the autumn I'd hope the majority of grass cutting has been done - all in good time to finally have my car back on the road. Thanks for that follow up TriggerFish.
I've been reading through a few more reviews and the Bridgestones are looking like the best option. Falken ZIEX seem another choice at a similar price if anyone has anymore comments on either?
Thanks

I'm after opinions on which tires to fit to a set of 15" BBS RZ's? Until now I've been running on bottle tops but would like to hear what people are finding to be good on the BBS's as I'm looking to buy a set.
Thanks in advance

After waiting almost 3 months, my car finally went in for repair yesterday. Can't wait to get it back on the road
In the mean time I have taken full advantage of the 60+ MPG of the courtesy car. Covering over 4000 miles must have made myself a nice saving!!

Top Gear - the last straw
Following the demise of Top Gear on TV I have remained a subscriber to the magazine, but my most recent read could change that. Speaking of the Z3 they write; "Fundamental to the cars lack of vim and vigour was a rear-axle design borrowed from the E30 3-Series, and only marginally more advanced than...

Re: Hit by a lawnmower
Yeah it has been nice to see the prices slowly creeping up. Haven't been interested in selling it, but it does make a difference in this kind of situation. Repair estimate was £3200 - They've said that they will only replace the 1 rear tire which will leave me having to pay for a second to prevent t...

Re: Hit by a lawnmower
After expecting the car to be written off I got a call today to say the repairs have been approved. The assessors asked what I valued my car at and I said £4-5000, they said they had came up with the same which was a nice suprise. Until it's repaired I've got a Mercedes A200 hire car... Re: Hit by a lawnmower
I did find a weld line in the end, doesn't look a bad repair - and all good rust free metal. Just a lot of filler to fair it in. Ah a shame he's no longer about. I'm not sure I'll be able to avoid it being a write off, but will be buying it back anyway. All cleaned up and ready for what may be it's ...

Re: Hit by a lawnmower
Yeah sounds good advice. Thanks again, I'll try to find some evidence.
I am getting a new BMW as a courtesy car in the mean time... They said it may be a slight downgrade due to the engine size but will still be a "presitige car"
