Re: Why does no garage have a press these days!

He once tried to make a spindle for a turbo out of a screw driver no matter how many times we told him they're balanced at like 20000rpm thankfully he gave up befor...

Re: Impact wrenches... Which one?

One bit of kit i would recomend is the dewalt 3/8 drive cordless Impact gun. Very small to get into tight places and is brilliant at undoing things like manifolds sumps etc.

Re: Impact wrenches... Which one?

Have a snap on cordless as well serious bolt loosening power, would probaly cost 200+ to buy an airgun with equivalent power With an air compressor yes. But any air gun over 200 quid has alot more power than the snap on cordless. Ive got the snap on air gun cost me about 330 and that thing has some...

Re: Impact wrenches... Which one?

Use a snap on one in work quite abit. Its the only one id recommend if your after something with good break away torque to undo bolts. Or just buy a small single phase compressor and a decent air gun.

Depending where the split is you can get exhaust repair kits. Maybe try one of these and alot of gum gum mate.

Re: MOT Failures?

The leak in the backbox would cause a high lambda reading as there is too much oxygen getting in. Which would fail the test.

Paint code/type

Just wondering if BMW commonly put the name of the paint on the car on the nearside suspension strut. Mine says zinnebrot red (sp?). Thought it was unusual to actually see the name of the paint and not the code on the sticker.

Re: Possible inlet Manifold leak?

The noise could be your clutch release bearing. Also if you think there is an air leak. Get some DW40 or air intake cleaner and spray it around the areas you think its coming from. If the engine note starts to change as it sucks in the oil you'll know where its coming from.
