Single skin fibreglass bonnet and bootlid available
New, bought through the zone group buy, just listed with some other stuff on the for sale forum but a quick note on here as well as it's likely most people interested would miss it.

Are E90/E91 front seat squabs the same both sides?
I drive a lot of miles for work and the front seat is getting compressed and uncomfortable, was never that great to start with but now I get a bad back after a couple of hours. I was going to buy a leather interior and replace the seats, but few and far between in the spec I need as I want a bolt in...

318d?
Next car is very likely to be a 2010-2012 318d estate (whoops sorry Touring), decent economy and £30 a year tax, I cover high miles for work. Dealership guys, any reason not to? (ie hit a certain mileage and something very expensive happens?) I'm an old guy :-) so not that interested in power/looks,...

CPS and plug cylinder lead swap symptoms?
I'm trying to help a guy out that can't get his car running after an engine swap (facelift M20 2.0 to 2.5). I don't have the car here and can't get to it to check anything myself. The car cranks over, seems to be overfuelling, no spark. Would these symptoms match the CPS and CID leads being swapped ...

Re: Tow car ideas?
Cheap and cheerful - Tdi Sharan (or Galaxy). Take the back seat row out (they just unclip) and you have loads of space for tools/spares, and still room to take mates/family. Sensible mpg and drives more like a car than a truck (Disco).

Re: Intermittent fuel pump problem - not electrics?
Ok thanks both. Only been off the car for a week or so, works from starting every time no problem but cuts out after 15-20 minutes running. Will give him the benefit of the doubt (and trust it isn't the usual ebay scam merchant sending me back his knackered old pump and keeping the decent one he bou...

Intermittent fuel pump problem - not electrics?
Has anybody had a problem with the fuel pump working for 15-20 minutes then cutting out when it still has a power supply? I sold one on ebay (drove the car for over two hours continuous myself and no issues with fuel) , the guy reckons that it only runs for 15-20 minutes then stops. If he substitute...

Don't bother unless you like wasting your time. He agreed to buy a set of seats from me, delivered up to motorway services and meeting him there for collection. Spoke to him yesterday morning before I left, confirmed time etc and agreed to ring him when I got there. So I did, he didn't answer his ph...

Thanks chaps, ebay for used clocks it is then. Only an advisory last year (there was a lead in time for the UK on warning lights, towbar electrics and the other new gumf where future fail items were listed as advisories)

E46 dash warning light bulbs, replaceabale?
On the old MOT (prior to my ownership) the car had an MOT advisory on airbag warning light, when I bought it the airbag light bulb wasn't working big surprise. I's now due MOT and I took the clocks out to replace the bulb, but it looks like it was a soldered in LED or something that has been broken ...

Thanks, not had a look at anything yet but will over BH. Towed my brothers caravan to London yesterday (huge thing all loaded up, it's going in a container to Australia), only place there was a smidgen of torque was between 2 and 2.5k revs, so it was an interesting experience. Never really noticed a...

E46 320d intermittent power loss
Over the last week or so my car has been running intermittently with what feels like no turbo, not slow enough to be limp mode but definitely not right. It can last for a few minutes or a couple of hours. There is no misfire or rough running, it is still smooth to drive just no torque at all. It is ...

It will be these welded onto standard front struts after the original spring seat had been ground off, could be done wth any type of insert same as a standard car, wouldn't really make them "Avo coilovers", "Koni coilovers", or whatever. Basically your standard Macphearson strut front end with a sma...

Really odd E46 320d temp guage issue
My car doesn't overheat, but I have an issue with the temp guage on long journeys. Sits bang in the middle for about two hours, then starts to creep up. When switched off, the guage only drops back "half a guage" to rest. ie if it has gone up to register 3/4, when switched off the needle only goes b...

Re: Cooling System Prefacelift/Facelift
I think that it will work if fitted with the older M20 style water pump. Only based on older E30 engine fitting to newer E30 water system, I just changed for the later pump. From memory one less outlet on the newer pump (but may have got that back to front).

Viscous/torsen type are awesome diffs on a race/track car, zero lock when you don't want/need it, variable up to 100% lock when needed. I have a 4.1 on my racer, and a 3.91 (rebuilt by diffmeister Gareth) from my brothers that will be for sale soon.

Are E46 windscreens 4 door and tourings the same?
As above, anybody know offhand? I twatted a mossie with the back of my hand when driving earlier on, and managed to put a fk off big crack down the screen :o: Seems to be a load of screens for 4 door saloon around, but not the tourings. Also, do pre and post facelift E46s use the same screen? Thanks.

Re: Idiots guide to increasing 0-60 & bhp of a M42 engin
End result of a rolling road remap is a new chip, mapped for your car with everything adjustable tweaked to the best it can be all through the rev range. Probably the single best improvement there is for an M42, and all done without even getting your hands dirty

Hi, all the original gear can be used, also leave the 318is clocks in place so the petrol guage will be the same, but change the coding plug for an M20 one so the rev counter will work properly.

Good stuff. Any chance of mounting the camera onto the rear cage or something, "helmet cam" in 2nd practice makes the video look like you have a mate holding the camera and trying to balance in the back of the car

Re: E46 N42 pressurising - oil breather?
Thanks for replies. The primary leak was def pushing oil up through the filler cap, hoping that venting through the dipstick pipe has stopped it from pressurising and blowing too much else. Was never a completely dry engine, but now pushes out over a litre a week. This looks like the bit I need? The...

E46 N42 pressurising - oil breather?
My car was leaking oil from the oil cap, I changed the oil cap and it's still doing the same. Seems like a stuffed breather pipe. I have been driving it the last few weeks with the dipstick slightly out so it blows/leaks the oil out there instead and not over the exhaust manifold from the filler cap...

Half a dozen "extras" are already turning up in the hope of some time later on during the day when things go wrong for others. Bit too far for me on the offchance, will have to be next time. Hope the day goes well, weather looks brilliant for the end of Sept.
