Re: Overheating/damp LH carpet.
Thanks Speedtouch. Great leads and advice. Had a fun morning getting the valve off. Stripped it down and the diaphragm is torn to bits. So a firm answer to the problem. Just off to sell my first born to afford a replacement!

Re: Overheating/damp LH carpet.
Thank you Speedtouch. I'll check the O ring where the valve tube fits up to the matrix. Is there also an O ring where the electrical valve fits to the tube?

Overheating/damp LH carpet.
Hi chaps and chapesses. I'm thinking leaking heater matrix or controller for the above indications. Any advice for access and necessary removal/refitting of possible offenders will be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Fuel hose.
Hi, I am planning a trip to Ireland next year and note you can only get E10 petrol there. So, probably not before time, I will change all the fuel system flex hoses. Can anyone advise if it's essential to get these from BMW or buy a length of appropriate quality hose and make up my own? A recommenda...

Go to .GOV and click on : Reduce car tax on cars 20 to 40 years old. Maybe worth a try.

As above, clean then tie up the viscous fan (stops blowing the leak/drips about). Take a look at the crankcase breather L/H side of engine around half way along on lower block.. it's a tube heading upwards around 25mm ish.

Headlight adjustment system.
If, like my car, your headlight adjustment system gave up working long ago you probably won't get a MOT. My local old car friendly MOT testing garage had a quiet word suggesting I removed the operating knob on the knee panel. IE they can't fail a system if it's not fitted.

Re: South African models
SA cars are fitted with a sump guard. Good idea. The one I was looking at was listed as a 3ltr by DVLA which could cause problems. Apparently most had a obc rather than the clock.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a South African import 325i 1992, 4 door automatic. There's lots of info on the 325is and 333i but I can't see anything on a standard 325i. I'd be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this model. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, the central locking on my 1990 325i Cabriolet has never worked. This is no doubt due to the fact that none of the components are there! Strange but true. I suspect a previous owner binned them because they were fried. I'm looking to getting a second hand set. Are the components the same across t...

I'm hoping for some good top down weather. Stopping en route for a coffee etc would mean putting the roof up... yeah I know... but it's a faff and I'm a lazy toad. And leaving anything on the back seat is too tempting for some!

Hi, I'm planning a month long UK tour in the autumn. Obviously the missus will be coming and in need of a complete wardrobe (and that's just for shoes)! I will have a carrier bag stuffed under the seat. My question is; has anyone found/fitted a luggage rack on a cabriolet?

Re: MOT fail
I asked my MOT tester, many years ago admittedly, about the system and it not working prior to the MOT. He wasn't bothered saying that as long as the headlights could be adjusted, which they can from the front of the lights, he was happy. He used to have an e30 so was well aware of the problem.

Re: Car Is jerking
Mine's the same when cold, 325i cab. Same with my e36 328i coupe on the same route; up hill from the house they're fine. Down the other side of the hill they will jerk if I don't dip the clutch. Doesn't last long so I live with it.

Re: Car Is Jerking In First Gear When Cold Please Help!
Mine's the same. Leaving the house when cold I have to power up a hill and all is well. Coming down the other side on light throttle and it's developed hiccups. I just dip the clutch. Always been the same in 8 years of ownership.

Re: Fuel pump.
Now that's interesting Brian. I get what you're saying. Was my understanding of the Bentley FPR flawed because it mentions fitting the pressure gauge to the shraider valve at the end of the injection rail. My car hasn't got that facility so I fitted the gauge in line to the rail feed?

Re: Fuel pump.
I replaced the FPR a short time ago because it failed on the pressure check carried out following the Bentley Manual. However the pressures remained low and that prompted a pressure check on the pump. I fitted a tee piece and gauge in line directly to pump outlet. There it indicated 2.5 bar. I've bl...

Fuel pump.
Hi, 1990 325i. The fuel pump is pressure is 2.5 bar. I understand it should be 3 bar. On removal I can see very fine pieces of debris. Shiny, non ferrous. I'm guessing it's an aluminium impeller. Question is what is a reasonable replacement choice. The interweb comes up with all kinds of make at pri...
