Highly enjoyable day out; great to meet you guys. The deluge was also a good time to dive into one of the automobilia tents and pick up some car mags. Non-BM highlight for me was the big Nash Ambassador.

Replacing the pump for washer jets
I need to replace the small pump for the windscreen washer jets, garage tested it and the 'power' is getting through ok. They said its easy to get the pump from any motor factors, but wondered if is better to get a specific E30 unit from a breakers (eg the guys in Charing in Kent)? S'pose it depends...

Get in touch with Mr Beattie at Bavarian Retro. He supplied me a decent one for less than £100 but it depends on what comes in for breaking.

Cab window rubber trim
Both the inner and outer rubber strips for one of the side windows have split (a sliver of the inner piece rises up and down with the window). Any advice on if its a simple job to open up and replace them, assuming I can find 2 new pieces?

Re: E30 Convertible Performance
Afraid fully loaded with wife and inlaws. I'd say great sports all round. No way am I getting a wind deflector. There's a great article in an 80s CAR magazine, A Week at the Wheel of a 325i Cabriolet, the journalist explores different degrees of lowering the windows for the optimum balance of fresh ...

Had a 320i Touring for 10 years, felt solid, sounded good, lasted well, but did feel sluggish until you wound it up.

Re: E30 Convertible Performance
Haven't tried a 325i but my 318 is fine in stop-start London traffic; perfectly comfortable cruising top down, windows up on A roads, and real fun on winding B roads.

Cab Hardtop Snow
Nerdy query: No room in garage for Cab, so its parked outside and is now inevitably covered under 4-5" of snow. I just wondered if anyone had thoughts on whether its better for the hardtop itself to leave the snow to melt, or scrape it all off now, bearing in mind more snow is due and it could get i...

That's how it works on mine, one disables the other. Heating element works but it does take a while to clear - well, its 20 years old! Not sure how you can hear any blower noise in the back?

My 318 cab has standard steel wheels; if I swap to BBS alloys, is there an appreciable difference in the ride between 14" and 15" ?

I think 4 or 5 e30s turned up, incl a 318i with a Nissan 16 valve. Shame faz wasn't there; was looking forward to a deep and meaningful discussion about fixing sagging hardtop headlining. Mainly 5 series.

Must say mauritiusblau is one of, if not the best cab colours; just got a black hardtop which just looks 'right' with the dark colour too, matching the bumpers etc. What are you doing with your old bumpers?
(btw, emm-aitch is the lame sig I came up with, ie my initials are M and H, and I'm a bloke)

Re: touch up paint metallic will it look better or worse?
Matt86 I was thinking of doing the same thing, esp as small bottles of mauritius blue and lacquer came with the 318 cab when i bought it a few weeks back. Lots of tiny white spots to touch up, and inevitable scratches near the door lock. Yours looks mauritiusblau - (but out of interest is your bumpe...

Small patch of rot around jacking point
Hi, hope this image loads. My '92 318i cabriolet is in very good condition overall (50k mileage, garaged, 2 owners, hardly any rust) except for a tiny patch on sill by rear wheelarch passenger side... and this patch around the rear jacking point, driver's side. Any suggestions for the best way to de...

Re: Cabriolet replacement zip-in window
Thanks for the feedback guys. Phoning around it seems 40-thou PVC is the standard material - unless anyone knows of a 'premium' PVC that may be more robust/scratch resistant?

Cabrio rear window PVC - options?
Hi there. Need to replace zip-in window, wondered if there's only one standard PVC - ie 1mm thick/40thou - or is there a 'premium' type that will withstand scratches/discolouring for longer? And companies in London/south east who'd do the work?

Cabriolet replacement zip-in window
Hi there, I need to get a replacement zip-in window fitted; wondered if anyone has any recommendations for the best quality plastic/suppliers/fitters? Looking for company to do the work in south east London, but the main thing is the quality of the product, and I could go further afield.
