Re: Master/Slave Cylinder Knowledge Needed

Not really. All BMW slaves are the same diameter bar M3 ones BUT they are specific to the generation of gearbox. For an E30, E21 E34(maybe) and others of the same age you need an E30 style one. Have you considered getting someone to send parts from the UK>? Thanks for the info mate. I suppose I may...

Master/Slave Cylinder Knowledge Needed

Hi guys I've exported my sport to Africa and parts are not as readily available as good old UK. It's time to replace my master (input)/slave (output) cylinders Parts numbers: 21 52 1 156 000 & 21 52 1 157 212/21 52 1 116 300 I have honed the cylinders and they are badly pitted, so rather than go to ...

Re: IE Stroker Kit

there is nothing the IE kit has that cant be sourced elsewhere. custom pistons you want the JE with OEM dish-dome shape to retain good squish characteristics and chamber centreded around the plug on the hotside of the chamber. they can do both 8.8:1 style or 9.7:1 style best bet is through "topend/...

Re: IE Stroker Kit

Wondered why my ears were burning. IE kit is very expensive over here, add on the import duty and it's a very hard sell. M54b30 crank, keep the rods there very similar to S50 or M52b28 ones, add some JE pistons (I think they do ones with the right crown shape) and if you really want then spec some ...

Re: IE Stroker Kit

You need to be talking to zoner's like reggid or HairyScreech, they have the knowledge of just what bits you would need to stroke out to that sort of capacity. BMW have used the same bore centres for years, which does help with this sort of thing. So you need to research which crank from which engine...

Re: IE Stroker Kit

The IE 'kit' is regarded as a very expensive way to gain capacity. Little more than a crank from a 2.8 M52 is needed to take an M20 to 2.8 ltr, which ca be bought for a few quid. Back in the dark ages, when daimlerman was a lot younger, the way to stroke an M20 was to use the crank from an E28 525e,to...

Hi Guys Im thinking of ordering an IE 3.1l M20 stroker kit. Has anyone had experience with this product, and is there any advice to share in this regard? Also, if you have a knowledge of stroking m20b25, is there any IE essential additional items you would recommend? The below URL is a direct link t...

Indeed they are common problem on the getrag box's. you could try using different gearbox oil to quieten the noise.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Is there an oil that you've tried and tested?

Is there any internal component that can be/needs changing?

Gearbox "Mechanical Noise"

Hi guys, I'm in a spot of trouble, and id appreciate some input. Engine is m20. At idle, there is a mechanical "clunking" sound that appears to be from the gearbox. However, the sound immediately disappears as soon as the clutch is engaged. Apparently, this is common on e30's however unbeknown to me...

My current set up is EBC drilled and grooved discs F&R and greenstuff pads. I am not confident in the braking both cold and hot. I have also noticed a large volume of brake dust. I will re-look at the installation to confirm the issue is pads (as suspected). I am debating between EBC yellowstuff (p...

Cold dipping gives the same cathodic protection as hot dip, but it is applied as a paint.
Paint after depends on the manufacturers data sheet.

Because they are ! They are poor quality with mild steel baffles that barely last the warranty period. Peasants like them because they make loads of noise and the tailpipes are girthy. Im suprised that it hasn't sold, especially at that price.

He seems to need the sale, let him do some legwork to give you the assurance you need.
