Need help wiring e36 M51 to e30 324td (oh, and EWS)
Hi guys If I'm not mistaken, there was never a 324td in the UK, right? Nevertheless, I'm going to try my luck here. Can somebody help me with the wiring? Would love to see the E36 pinout and e30 324td pin out. Is the e36 M51 pinout the same as the e34? I've read the M51 wiring is mostly the same as ...

Re: Engine ran fine on LPG, no power now on petrol
Problem solved
I was looking at the wrong blue plug. There's another one next to the first injector.
My injectors were very badly clogged up

Engine ran fine on LPG, no power now on petrol
Hi guys As I already said in another topic, I removed an LPG installation from mijn '84 320i for various reasons. It had been running on LPG for 3 years. It started on petrol and then automatically switched. I never tried manually switching it to petrol when the installation was still present becaus...

Re: Facelift injectors in a pre facelift car? M20B20
1) No, there's a difference in the impedance of the injectors. Fitting the wrong ones could potentially fry the ECU 2) Injector cleaner in the tank will do the square root of f**k-all to the state of your injectors. Remove them and send them to Injectortune if you want them cleaned. 1) Thanks, but ...

Facelift injectors in a pre facelift car? M20B20
Hi guys Is it possible to use facelift injectors in a pre facelift engine? I bought a '84 320i which has been running on LPG for a long time. Now it runs like *** on petrol. I've already drained the old petrol and put fresh one in it with injection cleaner and installed a new petrol filter. I want t...

I would strongly recommend removing the intake. When replacing mine on the M20, 2 "tips" got loose from the injector and fel down the intake. Luckily, those valves where closed...

Re: Which propshaft? (M50B25 gearbox)
Thanks, but I decided to go with the M40 gearbox, 320i gearbox links, Z3M shortshifter, 320i prop and 168mm 4.45 diff. I have all those parts lying around so it can be done low budget.
Also using the 6.3kg flywheel and starter from an '84 M20 btw. Can be fitted without any grinding.

Which propshaft? (M50B25 gearbox)
I'm trying to figure out "the best bang for the buck" arrangement but I keep reading different things. My question is: Which proshaft will fit behind an M50B25 gearbox with small (78mm) flange? I've read that the e30 320i and 325i propshafts will do he trick because the e30 gearboxes also use the 78...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
Ensure that the throttle position switch switches as soon as the throttle butterfly moves off of its stop, consistent with switching back again reliably when the throttle is released. It does, i can hear the click and also tested it with an ohmmeter. At which pins from the ECU connector can I test ...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
Someone offered me another one for free, so tried that one today. What a difference! The hunting is gone, no more smell of unburnt gas, definitely more power and a better engine sound. I think it all had to do with the adjustment screw. Thanks for making me aware of that. Although, the few stutters(...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
You cannot reliably check an AFM with an ohmmeter. You need to connect a six or nine volt battery across the ends of the pot., and monitor the voltage on the wiper as you slowly push the flap open. It is normal that the idle speed doesn't change when you disconnect a M20 ICV. Well, two things the H...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
Soooo... I ran some electrical tests. Turns out the TPS is just fine. The resistance between the terminals of the ICV is also fine, 40 and 20 ohms. But when i pull of the plug with the engine running, nothing changes, idle remains at about 700 RPM. So than I tested the voltage arriving at the ICV. T...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
Could it be that the wiki is wrong about the TPS testing? In the wiki it says that pin 1 and 3 should go short circuit when the TB is almost completely open, but here it says that pin 2 and 3 should go short circuit And here it says that there should be continuity between the inner and the other of ...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
If you're absolutely certain, then the next thing is the Throttle Position Switch which may get filled with oil. Then it won't send its Idle signal to the ECU, leading to the "hunting" you describe. http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Intake#Idling I hope that's the problem. I do wonder wh...

Re: ICV, is this normal?
By playing with the AFM screw, you have introduced a new problem to the car. You will need to take it to a mechanic with an exhaust gas analyser to reset. Your ICV sounds fine. You really need to look for air leaks: http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Intake#Air_Leaks Really? I did notice ...

ICV, is this normal?
Hi, my name is Ben and I'm from Belgium. I'm having some problems with my M20B20 facelift model and I think it could have something to do with the ICV. When idling, the engine is going up and down in its revs and it can only be neutralized for 90% by screwing the AFM screw completely down. No known ...
