toby,
I think the clear plastic film you are talking about is called Armorfend. I've seen it on a few cars to protect them from stone damage.

My favourite route would be Perth to Braemar on the A93, then take the A939 just before Ballater and head for Tomintoul. Brilliant empty roads and no cameras. The best bit of this route, for me, is the stretch of road between the Glenshee Ski Centre downhill to Braemar, 10 miles I've twice been luck...

I got an MTech 2 spoiler cheap because it was like this. I very carefully drilled a small hole in the centre of broken stud then I drilled it out to the size that I could then use a tap to thread the remains of the stud and the square piece of plate it is fixed to. (The tap I used was the same threa...

It was the broken wire in the sender that was causing fault. This wire must be resistance wire and is very thin so couldn't just replace it with ordinary wire.

Fuel gauge sender fix
The fuel gauge on my '90 325i stopped working and using info from search of Tech Help I tracked it down to the sender on LHS of tank. Checked the sender with ohmmeter and it was max resistance. Took it out of tank and dismantled it. There is a small nut (5.5mm) on the bottom that allows you to remov...

I did both of mine this way, nothing else worked. Bolt the wheel back onto the hub and lay it on the grass. Fit stilsons onto the collar nut, stand on the wheel so that it doesn't move, and hit the stilsons with a big sledge-hammer (tool number 1). First one slackened with one hit, 2nd took 2 hits. ...

Found this site on e30tech.com

It has lots of information about E30's, have not looked at every page but what I have seen looks to be very helpful. When I get some time I think I'll download it to my computer in case it disappears.

Fuzzy, a friend of mine had similar symptoms on his Scirocco. One of the twin-engined Tiger kit-cars was 4-wheel drive. This was fairly simple to do as they use or did use Golf Mk1/Scirocco front hubs and brakes. I have a Tiger Super Six which even uses Golf/Scirocco control-arms reversed as bottom-wishbone, later kits had fabricated wish-bones. I think it was...

Re: proper name for cloth type insulation tape
Self-amalgamating tape isn't the same as the fabric tape. Self-amalgamating tape is a type of rubber tape that has to be stretched as it is wound around the wires so that it causes the 2 surfaces to stick together and become one piece. Once amalgamated it cannot be unwrapped like PVC tape, it has to...
