Good to hear - I hope that I'm in that bracket - mine have packed up and the new switch is due to arrive in the post tomorrow. Fingers crossed, as fitting it is about the limit of my car electrics knowhow..!

Re: Blaupunkt RDS Radio in E30 Touring

Ben just to say that I ordered the exact item from your link and it fixed the problem, all plugged in nicely, so perfect response and thank you very much. Of course, the radio doesn't work, didn't light up or show any signs of life, and seeing as I hate car electrics I have not explored whether the ...

Re: 316/8 vs 320 touring?

I weighed up the same issue end of last year, ended up getting a 318i Touring. The 316 felt slow, to me, whereas the 320 felt barely faster than the 318. The 318 felt the best combination for me of reasonable pace and reasonable economy. Mine has a nice quick gearchange and feels plenty nippy on the...

Re: touring lowered or not??

And if you are also asking whether your car is currently lowered (I think you are, apologies if not) then I would say that it certainly looks as though it is, it is certainly sitting noticably lower than mine, which is standard and currently wearing 14'' bottle tops.

You just need the O ring supplied with your stat from bmw. What's your rotor arm and dizzy cap like? A good time to do it if they're ropey. Thank you very much for the response. Sorry for the really lame question, I'm sure there is an (embarrassingly) obvious answer, but I have failed: I need to replace the thermostat on my car, I have a new stat with the round gasket/seal for that, but I obviously ought to replace the thermostat housing gasket while I have the housing off ...

Re: is the mileage correct?

Sounds as though the vendor has paperwork to back it up - the mileage is noted on the MOT, for instance - so assuming that it is on the original engine (which can be checked from the number, presumably) you should be able to establish whether it is genuine or not, wouldn't have to take the dealer's ...

Agreed, we have put a number of old cars with them over the years and they have always served well. Have had to use the recovery thing a couple of times, too, once from the continent, and they were spot on, so cheap prices don't always equate to poor service.

Re: insurance

Many companies immediately class a convertible as a sports car, so on paper they will have you down as owning a convertible sports car, which is probably the reason why the premium went up. I have a group classic car policy, and was not allowed to add my E30 ('93 Touring) to that as it was too moder...

Depends how bad the rust is, but as it is rusty and nowhere near original spec don't make the mistake of thinking that if you paid him £2500 you'd be getting the plate for £500 and the car for a reasonable amount!! Just depends how much you want the plate, I guess, and how much the money means to you. It isn't worth that money for the car - but anything is worth what someone is prepared to pay, so if the plate is that important to you then it could be worth it to you. Private plates and all sorts of collectabl...

And (with apologies for the slight hijack) windscreens are identical across models - I have a Touring with a chip in the 'screen, needs replacing ideally, but a 'screen from any E30 would fit, presumably? I can't imagine that there would be a difference, so this probably appears a daft question, but...
