So I didn't do a very good job of keeping this up to date, but thankfully I can report good news as the car is now back together and complete :D After the car was returned from the bodyshop it was time to strip the suspension and subframe for a refurb. It was all in a pretty sorry state http://i840....

Re:
Looks like a second hand board will be the answer. It's a bit annoying when there is nothing really wrong other than some dials being wrong but its best to be sorted. The car is still away at the bodyshop and is due back in a week, I cant wait to see it without any holes in it! In the mean time I ha...

Re:
Thanks for that Brian. The 'leakage' stuff is rock hard doesn't feel as though it will be coming off any time soon. Im getting the feeling that the most sensible decision might be to get a totally new board if i can find one available.

Re:
So whilst the car is away I'm working on some of the parts that are removed from the car. Today I set about removing the SI batteries from the instrument cluster as as far as I was away they had gone. My reasons for believing that they had gone was because my fuel gauge would stop working from time ...

'87 Black with a hint of rot - Front end Re-Build
I had always wanted an E30, but always thought I would wait until I had finished university and had the money to buy a good one and also the money to look after one properly too. However, in 2011 I spotted a good one (or so I thought so) up for sale with 80k on the clock for £1800. So I bought it. I...

Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
Nah, i reserve the toothpaste for the occasional tooth clean. I had a choice of how i wanted the stainless, and i just went for "quiet". It's probably still louder than standard at idle, but much quieter than before when it was full of holes! From about 3000 RPM it really starts to rasp though, for ...

Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
So after a trip up to Deutsch Connection a few weeks back, my exhaust decided to rot itself away. A quick call to BMW made the solution simple; stainless it was! BMW wanted £280+VAT for the centre section alone, so instead i opted for down pipe backwards stainless for £300. Got to admit, I'm well ch...

Re: Badges...
Wheel badges are £3.xx something each as per an email from Cotswold BMW last week! That's for the stick on badge only, not the whole insert. £22 isnt bad, a decent eBay one is a tenner and lasts a fraction as long. Ahh that could be why mine were so expensive, i got the full insert an not just stic...

Re: Badges...
cant remember the full price list but i remember the wheel badges cost more than mentioned above, around £10 each. The rear was the most expensive, at £22!

Re: Badges...
I have replaced al the badges on my car with brand new ones from BMW. The boot one is probably the most expensive but at least it fits perfect!
If your replacing the boot badge make sure you buy the little plastic grommets too.

Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
Progress is slowly being made. General cleaning and tidying of the engine bay has started, with the 1st job being the insulation on the inside of the bonnet as it was totally screwed. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/Mk4_Briggs/IMG_0781.jpg http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/Mk4_Briggs...

Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
This weekend i FINALLY managed to get my wheels finished and fitted. But before popping them on I decided to scrub and clean under the arches as they was in a bit of state, came out pretty well though. Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
So today i have finally managed to get one of the wheels finished. Its come out pretty nice, but its slightly darker than original. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/Mk4_Briggs/Photo-0117.jpg When i was collecting the new wheel centre badges from BMW spotted this tucked away in the corner, it...

Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
A big thanks to Paul for sending me a fan. I got it fitted this afternoon, however it turns out the resistor has also gone. So i know have a fan that works, but only on full wack. Better than nothing i guess. Unfortunately i uncovered some rust behind the access panel.... http://i840.photobucket.com...

Re: Black 320 - Financial Ruin
When i first got the car the fan was squeaking quite a lot, then it gradually got worse until it totally seized up. I have tried to free it up, but its still very stiff. I only plan a 40mm drop Pete so im not sure i could pull off wheels as fat as those! They do look sweet though. Duke - no sunroof ...

Black 320 - Financial Ruin
So my BMW urge has finally lured me away from the VW world. I had been tempted for an E30 for a while, and then this popped up for sale. 1 owner from new with 83K on the clock and picked it up pretty cheap too. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/Mk4_Briggs/BMW/SAM_1091_2.jpg http://i840.photob...
