Re:
Hi BMG Great to see the attention to detail. With regard to the "BMW's most expensive part" the gearbox centre bearing. I tried to find an alternative as all of the other bearings are available at reasonable cost. The outer part of that bearing is available from skf for around £20. It is readily ava...

As to your subltle point.
It is very clear what was done to the camshaft re the second hole. As I suggested in an earlier post an explanation re the blanked hole being pushed in.
I also understand the role of "devil's advocate"

It is good that you stated your view. I posted the installation instructions so that people could view them. The common male practice of ignoring them is not helpful. We agree on the incorrect fitting and as I said previously it would be a difficult case to win in view of not following the instructi...

I think you wi...

Can we have predictions on the outcome? Having read Schricks catalogue and installation instructions. Locating hole in the incorrect position = money back or replacement (backed up by consumer law) Hole in the same position as every other BMW M20 camshaft part number 840-00 = No refund or exchange I...

So you can make mistakes but you don't tolerate it in others?
As I said I dont know any of the people involved so I will keep out of it.

After taking a break I would: Get the oil light working Pull the fuel relay and king lead and crank see if there's oil pressure. Compression test. The valves shouldnt clash if 180 out on the cam as it's purely on the intake stroke not compression. However, the latter test above will iliminate any p...

schrick cam
Since I posted on this thread I get emails about updates. They are not the ones I would like to see. The one I am waiting for is that a new camshaft is obtained free of charge and a token from Schrick as an apology for the incovienience and hassle. It seems to be easy to side track. I would look at ...

camshaft
Hi Simon I hope it is resolved to your satisfaction. Sending the camshaft to Germany if its at your expense should be noted as any item with an obvious fault is a direct refund/replacement. This is your right in law. Saying it has to be returned for a verdict is not correct but is used as a tactic b...

Re:
Hi Simon Looking through your camshaft woes it is clear that the camshaft is not correct and the locating hole is 180 degrees out. The blanked hole looks to be about 6 to 7.5 degrees retarded. Your issue is with the company who supplied the camshaft not with Schrick. If you bought a faulty electrica...

Does anyone have the standard ride height measured from the wheel arch to the centre of the wheel for front and rear of an early 325.

Re:
The control of pressure in the system is the regulator not the pump so if your pump is rated for 8 bar as i said clamp a return and you will see 8 bar or more. The pump on a normal e30 has a 2.5 or a 3 bar regulator but the pump will deliver a higher pressure if you block the return you will see the...

Re:
Are you sure the fuel system is correct? The regulator controls the pressure by returning fuel to the tank. You seem to have a static pressure that is normal (5bar) but when the engine runs the pressure is to low. If you run the pump without the engine running the pressure should rise to 5 bar and t...

Re:
If you go to a hydraulics supplier you will get a gauge and fittings suitable to do the job. A 10 bar gauge would be fine. Or splash out and buy a fuel pressure gauge kit.

Re:
As was said before the fuel pressure is important. My expierience of those walbro pumps is they often dont supply full pressure. I have tested a number of them and they all dropped pressure and would not sustain 5 bar. Stick a gauge in the line and check. Once the pressure dropped the engine would c...

Re: S52 Woes
Try checking the fuel pressure. I had fuel pressure problems when I did mine They run much better with the full pressure. Fit a small pressure gauge that reads to at least six bar and check the pressure with the engine running see if it maintains pressure.

walbro pump
I found that with these pumps it is easier to change the terminals. If you leave the existing wires on the e30 housing (just cut the end at the pump and the fit new electrical connectors to the fitting that connects to the walbro pump). If it eases your mind it is very difficult to set fire to the f...

The 3/16 will work. The original is din 4.75mm. If you look at the origanal pipe the area that the tube nut touches is slightly flatter than the SAE 3/16. I have used both types on BMW's without any problems.
