Re:

At work, we bought some info off the DVLA a couple of years ago. IIRC, there were something like 14 E30m3s registered in Norfolk.

I did this the other day...it's a nightmare :-x take out the radio, pop out the hazard, demister, etc switches. Undo the screws behind these. Undo the two screws at the bottom of the panel behind the storage space (all as datourer says). This will allow you to pull the panel out a tad. Then remove t...

I'm a similar age :( and with Norwich Union. Around Ԛ£400 fully comp, from memory. I guess you can get them on classic car insurance, but then you don't get any / buld up any no claims. And I think there'll be certain restrictions, like it having to be your second car. Oh, that's with full no-c...

I guess it's too late now if you saw it today, but bodily it's basically the same as any other e30: rust below windscreen, rear number plate lights. And, importantly crash damage. Mechanically i'd want it to be good: full service history, no leaks, etc... The engines are v expensive to put right. Ma...

Couldn't the temp sensor be somewhere else? (I mean not in the mirrors, hence just the two wires?)

If they switch on only when cold, it could explain all the mysterious battery drain problems during the recent cold weather.

The first time I insured mine they put it down as RHD. And that was after I had filled in all the bits asking about modifications.

I was half expecting that when i told them, they would put the premium up

I'm not going to be much help, but i've had the random wipe problem. Started when i was in wales: just the odd random wipe. Soon got worse, and quickly became irritating. On the journey home (to Norfolk, a long way), the wipers would go off every time I went round a bend, or accelerated quickly. By ...

There's a big debate about this. Some say timing chain has to be done at 100,000 miles. However, the rumour is that this was put about by one of the well known repair shops to drum up business: it's v costly to do. Others insist that timing chain doesn't need doing, as long as you do the tensioner t...

I got the man to do my wiper blades because i put the previous ones in myself. Badly. The rubber blade bit kept sliding out of the wiper. In rain, I had to keep stopping every few miles to slide it back in

Hope you have better luck with yours!

Like they've said LHD isn't a problem, but the dogleg box takes a bit of getting used to. You just have to be a bit more careful overtaking, or changing lanes on dual carriageways. And there's a lack of forward visibility on country lanes with hedges. the biggest problem for me was I kept getting in...
