Won't Run When Hot - Temp Sender/Sensor Possibly?
Evening all, our M52 engined track car is finally nearing completion so thought I'd better try running it for an extended period of time and I've found a problem. It starts and runs cold perfectly, but once it gets warmer after 10 minutes or so it starts to get a bit lumpy, then if you give it some ...

Re: Front windscreen
Great, thanks guys.
I'll see how I get on tomorrow and maybe buy the tool you suggested in the week.
Got the remainder of the windows to fit as many other jobs to keep me busy, just getting fed up of throwing a cover over it every time there's a shower. Fecking weather.

Hmm, none listed on eBay specifically for BMW, lots of Mini/VW ones.
Might do the first part and then try and get a tool during the week to do the bead.
Remind me, does the split in the bead go at the top or bottom?

The proper tool I don't have... This could end well.
What does said tool look like, and is it for getting the screen back in the rubber or for putting the sealing strip round?

Some dimensions:
Total length = 75mm
Thread Length = 40mm (Wheel nut side)
Thread Length = 13mm (Hub side)
Bullet Nose = 12mm
Hump between threads = 10mm
They look/feel very nice quality, paid £89.99 for the set inc. postage.
Might get chance to fit them tomorrow.

There's not much to the mechanism itself, it might be the springs but I doubt it... Is the cable fully releasing/how much movement have you got in the handbrake lever?

Re: Spacers & Wheel Bolts
if you've got 2mm clearance a 5mm shim type spacer should give more than enough clearance. my old compact ran big old 60 profile tyres, and even driven hard the top never moved enough to touch the collars. they actually touched with no spacer, used a 5mm spacer and no problems over many thousands o...

Re: Spacers & Wheel Bolts
I guess as the car travels over bumps everything should move in parallel, I am concerned that the gap is too small at the moment though. The longer term thinking is bigger (both diameter & width) wheels/tyres. For the extra width I'll need to change the offset or use spacers... My thinking is you ca...

Re: Spacers & Wheel Bolts
Nick why not just use long studs with alloy spacers? Your just making the whole setup 5 times heavier than it needs to be If the spacers are threaded, I don't see how I can fit studs like these http://www.rallynuts.com/wheel-studs/ait-m12-x-150-to-m12-x-150-conversion-wheel-studs.html . Recently fitted Gaz coilovers and have the age-old problem of limited space between the collar supporting the bottom of the spring and the tyre-wall (the gap is about 2mm). I've been looking at both Eibach and H&R spacers... Both the H&R and Eibach 25mm (per-side) ones look to come with bolts and bo...

Try looking for 11mm, 10mm and less don't tend to be hubcentric. Is 1mm going to make much of a difference?

Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1s or something else in their range I would have thought. I researched light-weight wheels a few years ago and they came out the lightest I could find for sensible money.

Re: Fuel Level Sender / Pickup
Thanks, that clears up what the extra hole is for, the article doesn't describe the tanks that aren't fitted with an in-tank pump.
If the internals of our tank are no different from the 55l tank that's fitted with a pump and a return on the pump housing then it looks like we can upgrade.

Re: Fuel Level Sender / Pickup
Ah, just had a look on eBay, most tanks on there seem to have two holes on top, I guess one is for the level-sender (left side) and the other is for the pick-up/pump (right-side). Does the return on the two hole tanks go back to the pick-up as well? Our tank only has a single hole on the right hand ...

Re: Fuel Level Sender / Pickup
It's an earlyish 320i, mid '87 coupé... Looking in the tank there is something that resembles a bowl. I will try and get a picture of what I have tonight.
The pick-up and return is pretty clagged up with rust and flakey white stuff, but it will probably clean up OK, so may not be worth changing.

Fuel Level Sender / Pickup
Just been looking at the fuel level sender we took out at the weekend and it doesn't look to have any kind of in-tank pump, it's also in a pretty grotty condition and the fuel gauge never did work correctly. We've got an M52 under the bonnet, so we'd be relying on just the external pump to feed it, ...
