Re:

I have heard that the problem could be a broken down HT Lead expanding when hot. I don't think its the crank sensor because the car isn't cutting out. Before this all happened the car over heated 2 or 3 times due to a broken water pump. Maybe that has done something? Let me know what yous think. Ha...

Well i think this guy wants to fix the problem himself so if he doesn't know what he's looking for is it not best for him just to try other parts to diagnose the problem? If i was working on the car i would only be charging for what part cured the problem but maybe garages over your way work different

Re: Help with an e30/e34 535i problem

Sounds like your crank senser is playing up when car heats up, the rough idle and fumes is prob just from all the cranking your doing before it fires and the clunk you hear is the engine been flooded and cause it to jam up, it could be other things aswell but try the simple things first

a mate used an E32 engine with fly by wire and he says you will need a complete throttle body from a normal 535 engine and all the hoses/pipes to match it, just removed your electric set up and screw the manual on and also you need a manual engine loom as the auto loom is no use to many xtra wires a...
