Re: Brake master cylinder replacement
Indeed (or a factory visit would be called for), and my original calc was off as a BMW supplied items is over 5 times more expensive than the Bosch unit (which I have decided to use.

Brake master cylinder replacement
My 1991 E30 Touring brake master cylinder has just started to weep so I need a replacement. I almost always use genuine parts when they are available. That said, a while ago I needed rear claipers and only 1 was available from BMW (the other being no longer available) so instead a I sourced a 'Bosch...

Thank you for that. A bit higher than I was hoping. I'll see if I can source one from ATE.

Price for Brake Master Cylinder - 1991 325i Touring
Please can you supply a price for a brake master cylinder for my 1991 325i Touring. I think its part number 34311157206. Mine has started leaking so would prefer a new unit rather than a rebuilt one.

Re: E30 Touring Tailgate Switch
Solved, just realised its the same as the door switches. However it does not resolve my rear wiper issue. I have removed fuse 26 temporarily as the wiper will not park, just runs continuously. Hopefully not a motor issue as it was replaced with a new factory unit a little over a year ago!

E30 Touring Tailgate Switch
I've searched everywhere I can think of to find the part number for the tailgate switch on the Touring - it acts as an isolator for the rear wiper and mine has finally given up the ghost. Can anyone point me at the part number please.

Black Touring D Pillar Trims
I'm replacing the roof lining of my E30 Touring and need the D Pillar Trims in black for both rear D Posts. They must be in good condition and have all 5 'legs' that slot into the retaining clips in place. I believe the part numbers are 51431947401 (LH) 51431947402 (RH). Been looking for a while now...

Re: Instrument Cluster Bulbs
Yep, spot on Brian. Not having as much luck with tracing the brake pad wear sensor light on fault (NB Car has new pads and sensors all round and as mentioned above, light works as expected with different PCB), Done some tests as follows but I must be missing something (given the new circuit board do...

Re: Instrument Cluster Bulbs
Further info on the left half of the instrument cluster being dark. I have taken these steps to test it using my multimeter set to 200 ohms (NB when just touching the two probes of the multimeter together at this setting I see 0.4ohms as a bench mark number for continuity) 1 Tested for continuity fr...

Re: Instrument Cluster Bulbs
Hi Brian. No, did not swap lamp holders, just had a complete 320i cluster spare (kph unit), so pulled the instruments from that and swapped it into the 325i housing with my original dials. All bulbs etc already in the circuit board came with it.. Its a good point regarding the bulbs. I will try to n...

Re: Instrument Cluster Bulbs
Yes, I do know my left from right, so yes it was the left side of the dash that was not illuminated - i.e the speedo and fuel gauge near the white connector. Sorry for the misunderstanding, Yes the PCB I was referring to was indeed the main mother board into which the instruments fit.

Re: Instrument Cluster Bulbs
I know this is an old thread, but this is the same symptom I have just sorted on my 325. The left half of the instruments were dark, the right lit. Sometimes the left would light and then go out, sometimes it would not come on at all. All bulbs were fine so after much checking I swapped the printed ...

Re: M20B25 misfire
Mine had such a small tracking line it was almost imperceptible. In fact until I replaced it with a secnd new one that cured the problem, I would have sworn it was ok. It doesn't take much for tracking to happen. I think, from the photos, it would do no harm to change the rotor arm (worst case scena...

Re: M20B25 misfire
I would second Brians suggestion. I spend a fortune resolving a misfire on my 325 Touring. It started missing under load so I first did the distributor cap. It was slightly better but deteriorated over a short period. To cut a long story short, the new OEM distributor cap from the dealer was also fa...

Handbrake Cable to Radius Arm Clip
Anyone know the part number for the two white clips that screw onto small 'L' shaped brackets that are bolted on the lower anti roll bar brackets (swing support bracket - 33321127717 on real OEM) to retain the handbrake cables in place? Its for my 1990 E30 325i Touring and I cannot seem to locate th...

Re: Rarest E30 on the zone
Cracking car. Surely the M3 based H35-24 is both rarer and quicker ? I wonder if this Alpina is lighter than my H35, power output is the same. I had a feeling an H35 (unmolested) was quoted at 240bhp and I have no idea of production numbers. The Alpina B6 3.5s was quoted at 254 with cat, 260 withou...

Re: Dim flashing Handbrake/Pad Wear/Low Charge warning light
Those days eh. When I put the first 2.5 GALLONS of petrol in my Mini after passing my test, I had to fork out ....... 87.5p! (35p/ltr). I miss all those places as well, especially as I have several 'old bangers'. Its not just the places have disappeared, but you also used to easily get hold of speci...

Re: Dim flashing Handbrake/Pad Wear/Low Charge warning light
Thanks Brian, I was coming around to that way of thinking. I did a voltage check across the battery and it was fluctuating some at any engine speed. Checked the fan belt first which was at the end of life and a little slack. Took the alternator off and checked the carbon brushes which are proud by a...

Re: Brake pad ware warning light
Brian, you clearly know a thing or two about this stuff. I have posed a question under a new topic regarding 3 flickering warning lights, the parking brake light, the pad wear warning light, and the low charge light. All of these have started to flicker erratically at less than full intensity. The r...

Dim flashing Handbrake/Pad Wear/Low Charge warning lights
Anyone know why all three of these warning lights might flicker at less than full intensity in unison? I've looked at the SI board and there is nothing obvious wrong with it. The battery charge is fine as are the brake pads and the handbrake on/off switch? This is on my 1991 E30 325i Touring BTW.

Re: Alpina B6 3.5s Dash Switch
I'll reply to myself, just in case anyone else has a similar issue to resolve. First, the part number is 91 47 1 356 630. That was the good news, the bad news was that I could not find one anywhere nor could I establish where else the switch was used. I have however fixed the issue. I bought a new A...
