Buzzing noise on braking
My 1988 325 touring has developed a buzzing noise when braking at speeds below about 5mph which is also felt as a rapid vibration through the peddle. Also the peddle drops a tad when the noise occurs. I could describe it sounding like a spring vibrating against a biscuit tin! It seems to happen only...

Re: Rubber boot for 325
Hi Brian I've just had a look at a pic of 708800 but I'm afraid the outlets are not in the positions of the one I need. Just as the boot meets the AFM an outlet goes off to the ICV and diagonally opposite another goes off to the brake servo. Any help much appreciated.

Re: Rubber boot for 325
Hi both, sorry for the late thanks as I've been away. The boot I need has two outlets, one outlet for the ICV and another for the booster. I've had two sent me (1726325) by two dealers which have only the ICV outlet and both said the part number had been changed to the above. Brian does your part nu...

Rubber boot for 325
Hi,
I'm trying to source the rubber boot which sits between the AFM and throttle body on my 1988 325. The part no. is 13711726205. BMW dealers tell me this part is no longer available. Any ideas, ideally for a new one.
Cheers

Cold engine hesitation
Hi, My 1989 325 starts fine but when I press the throttle peddle when the engine is cold there is a slight misfire. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Removing exhaust manifold
I'm replacing the exhaust manifold gasket in my 1989 325 Touring and I've been checking the location of the studs and seeing that the nuts are not seized. So far so good. On checking the lower row of studs it seems that two of them are obscured by the downpipe from the manifold. I've not yet been un...

Painting headlining?
I have a very grubby but intact beige headlining and it occured to me that it might look a lot better if it was black and that this might be achieved by paint. I envisage some sort of fabric paint: anyone have any experience or ideas about this?

Exhaust manifold gasket
The engine to exhaust manifold gasket on my 1989 325 Touring is blowing a bit so I'm planning to replace it. I've done a search on this forum and checked the Haynes (they give it one spanner of diff. which seems a bit optimistic in my case!). Does anyone have any tips to make the job as straightforw...

Thanks chaps, I'll give both options a go. I followed Brians advice about earthing the rear ashtray cable and now my instrument lights are working nicely.
Thanks again

Hi Brian, yes I know it's been pretty low as I filled it with about £50 pounds worth of fuel when it was still showing full.

Fuel guage probs.
The fuel guage on my 1989 325 touring has just started to always register a full tank. I've spotted the advice to sand the earth behind the glove box and also Brians advice to seek out the multiplug connection. Can you tell me where to find this plug on a Touring and what should I look for depending...

The dash lights on my 325 touring failed but after searching on this forum I saw Brians advice to earth the brown ashtray cable: and yes the lights came on! Hi all, I want to replace the thermostat in my 1989 325. The Haynes says I have to drain the coolant, is this really necessary?
