Re: 1990 316i manual Project

Hi all, Yea I think it’s all easily managed for the buyer. It’s been sold! Some guy enquired about it at the garage and offered £1700. I think it is worth more and the guy at the garage was supposed to negotiate but I don’t think he did… Was a shame it didn’t go to a zoner as I’d like to see it reac...

Re: Restoration in Bristol shall I or sell?

Car is in Bahnstormers in the Cotswolds... drove lovely up there. The guys have had it a few days and taken a good look around amd it does need a good bit of welding, both skins of the rear arches have a hole... between where the boot lid closes, and the rear lights, under the close cover (can’t thi...

Re: Restoration in Bristol shall I or sell?

I’m in Shirehampton...bit other side of Bristol : ) Ha, funny you should say that, I’ve been in contact with Bahnstormers and I’m about to book it in for the full bodywork treatment! As it’s been off the road I thought I might need to arrange a trailer, so I thought I’d chuck it in for an MOT to see...

Thanks!

Just can’t do it myself! Don’t have anywhere to dismantle it to send it to a body shop I’d trust! Phones a recommended shop today and they are not taking on more work!

Restoration in Bristol shall I or sell?

Hello People! I Love my E30 316i M40. Still the nicest car I’ve driven! I do feel it under powered and would have loved a 318is! I have a lot going on and can’t dedicate the time necessary to Restore my E30 myself. I have wanted to do it since owning it in 2007! I’ve been offered £1k (what I said wa...

Re: Bit of advice on recent bodywork

Yea exactly, I can’t be 100% sure I was that specific, but I do know I made it very clear that I have had the car for 10yrs + and wanted to get the trouble areas fixed properly. Communication relies on both accurate giving and acurate receiving! I’ll speak with him and be civil.

Bit of advice on recent bodywork

Hi All, I’ve known that I should have a couple of areas looked at on my e30 due to small signs of rust. Took it to a local one man organisation who had done some welding on my van before... I asked him to investigate and do welding on the rear arches as I could just see bubbling up around the lips, ...

Hi all, Just broken down amd wondered on the off chance if anyone near this way has an alternator asap? Breakdown are on their way to assess. Re: M40 316i/318i sputtering when warm temperature gauge 1/4

I know it's a bit late, but if the temp isn't getting above 1/4 of the way, I believe you may also need to replace the thermostat as it may be stuck open.

Brake servo leak?

1990 M40 engine With the engine running if I pump the brake pedal, you can hear hissing from the passenger footwell...there is a slight tear from the grey consatina (err spelling) boot where the rod goes through the bulkhead and into the back of the servo? This seems to be where air is escaping... A...

Re: m40 316i intermittent idle when cold

Great,

Let us know how it behaves when you change the icv vacuum hose...it's the one moulded to a coolant hose right?

Also worth checking the Throttle position switch...also on the wiki...all you need is a multimeter!

Re: m40 316i intermittent idle when cold

Welcome,

Usually vacuum leak is most likely, worth checking blue coolant temp sensor reading at cold and hot at the ECU.

Have a read of the wiki page on it, very useful info on the wiki!

How is it when hot? What temp does it get to on the temp gauge when 'hot'?'

Re: Consolidated E30 Dismantling Thread - 316i to 325i Sport

Hi,

I have 1990 316i saloon. Live in Bristol.

I need nearside main headlight (one nearest the edge of the car).
Standard manual Gear knob if you have one.

Interested in cost if you can do 15" BBS Alloys standard type (if you know what I mean).

Many Thanks

Re: Water in the n/s boot pocket

I'm pretty sure that pipe is supposed to poke out of the pocket to just behind the wheel arch. I had no pipe on the bottom of my aerial unit and had some spare fuel hose which fitted nicely, so just put that on and poked it through the existing hole at the bottom of the pocket/well. I'm sure someone...
