Problem is now solved :D drained coolant thermostat changed...resealed...filled back up with cooly..drained again (silly airlocks) filled up correctly.... Ran engine until at right temp, sat steady fan turning very well...ripped Golf+ mag :) topped coolant to levels and wooo now have clear dash and ...

The radiator seems to be fine no splits cracks or anything, will stick with this one for time being... Been out on the car this morning and the fan just doesnt want to do anything apart from the occasional turn when the throttle is open :S have another to replace this though will be trying it now Th...

as for the missus, shes off spending my money so i have the pans and kitchen to do as i please

Just checked the fan and it seems to be a little stiff....

the radiator looks and seems fine its only 6-7 months old....

how do i check the thermostats working correctly?

Il go out shortly and have a check over, The radiator isnt standard though...it was on the car when i bought it...ive got another rad at hand but its from a facelift 325i will change if it fits?

All seems to be well regarding the head gasket, no leaks or residue in the head or oil in water... thats the first thing i checked anything else i could look for with regards to the head?
