Can someone tell me if the 318i autobox is the same as the 325i autobox. I have been told they are, and researching them apparently they are both ZF boxes with the same part number - but i have a few reservations.
thanks.

Re: Replacing Diff
Did this today...went from small to medium case. Piece of piss to remove..bolts came undone straight away. Swapped it over and had everything done up bar one bolt. In the end removed the diff again and found a fouled thread in one of the mounting holes. Cleaned it out put it back...then another hole...

Re: Replaced Blue/Brown temp...
Wonder if someone could have adjusted the AFM to compensate for a duff blue sensor? Bingo! Popped by to see ant and he suggested that along with an adjustment of the TPS so it clicks a little sooner. Tried it but not really got it to work so either im at fault in my adjustments or something else is...

Re: Replaced Blue/Brown temp...
Well i took off the elbow, removed the throttle body, gave it all a quick clean and had a check for any splits in the rubber. All good - so i put it all back and made sure everything was tight. Took it for a spin and still hunting. Dont have any wd40 so will get some at the weekend. Assuming there a...

No visible air leaks anywhere, its not dropping coolant, the sensors are pretty much up as tight as they were before. I disconnected the iscv? valve and it didnt make any difference to tickover. Morning. Jacked it up, started it up and revd it and it's definately the diff making quite a bit of noise. Also noticed it's weeping fresh oil from the offside driveshaft seal. Im thinking it's probably run low on oil?? So I guess Im after a 4.1 open diff. A guy on the zone has said he has a 4.1 LSD...

Was going to say just use a flat head screw driver in the slight recess the cap has, put your thumb to pinch it and pull hard! They'll ease up in time.

Diff will make no difference to the speedo over reading. Having the wrong profile tyres will. All e30s I have owned have had a 5-7mph error. regarding the noise, is it there all the time or does it change under acceleration/deacceleration/cornering? Will check the tyres profile, i only know they ar...

Why is this a must do mod all of a sudden ??? Ruin the stock geometry just to widen your wheel choice ????? madness IMHO. i thought this has been going on for yonks? Reason for me is yes, a slightly wider wheel choice as they are predominantly cheaper in 5 stud versions..but also to run bigger brak...

Re: changing head bolts and skiming on 325i
Crack test, light skim and new bolts as a minimum. The bolts are stretch bolts, and don't return to their original length when removed. Refacing of the valves, renewing of the exhaust valve guides, and re cutting and reseating of all the valve seats is also a good idea. What about valve stem oil se...

Well done that man. Cheers. Probably going to source some zimmerman drilled discs. Why? If your current vented discs are OK, then a clean up and new pads are all you'll need. Well i just called up B&B Components in maidstone and they told me it was coming up as vented discs, i said that you guys told me they were solid. So i checked and they are vented. Double checked it has no ABS (no pump by front left) so i guess you guys are misinformed! always a first im sure! winkeye
