spring perch drama

Hi all, been a while! So i ran into a little trouble with the cabbie.. trouble being the driver side rear spring perch popping through the chassis rail  So as you do, pull it off the road, COMPLETELY strip the rear end to bare bones, order everything new, full brakes, shocks, springs, handbrak...

P.A.S racks

hi all, looking to replace my steering rack on my 1991 325 and was just wondering what the deal is with the so called E46 rack upgrade, i.e what sort of benefits are to be had? is it a simple case of bolting the 46 rack to my existing e30 pipes, column etc. do all 46 racks fit? not so much looking f...

Re: m20 flat spot

yes very similar, but my engine does not sound nearly as bad as that one  But yes, if i hit the throttle quick the revs do drop. i have not had the chance to have a look at the tps but does make sense that the tps is at fault. If i hold the revs at say 1200 rpm and hit the throttle the response...

Re: m20 flat spot

ok, its frustrating as ive rebuilt the top end, had everything out (exept the block) when I did the head gasket. I thought the flat spot would be cured as I replaced all the vac pipes etc, new gaskets but no..

but ill try the tps and check for leaks again at the weekend, ill keep posted :)

Re: m20 flat spot

Or £8.99 will get you a multimeter from maplin!!! Or that winkeye But ok, so the lamp would be on until I open the switch, when it clicks the light should go off. easy enough. ill give the switch a good clean and test it over the weekend, need to do a few other jobs so ill check for air leaks while...

Re: m20 flat spot

injectors were done by injectortune a few months back so they should be fine. with regards to the tps, I need the 'click' to be as soon as possible once I start to move the throttle so I understand, which is the case with mine.

Re: m20 flat spot

ok great, ill check both out, the tube between the block and inlet you mean the metal one with rubber seals on each end? with the tps, ive cleaned it out many times now, might just grab a new one. it does feel like an air leak but most of the pipes are new so none are cracked etc. was just wondering...

m20 flat spot

Hi all, another tuning question  my 2.7 cabbie has a terrible flat spot when you put your foot down, it cough's, revs drop a tad then picks up, doesn't seem to matter what it is currently revving at. if you press the throttle slowly it revs ok, but stamp on it and that's your lot.. revs drop be...

but if anyone has had experience with the above stayfast roofs though, id like to have some feedback :D

Re: Where it all started! (My first e30)

haha my first was a 316 m10 too, had a right result on it too, paid under 400 quid for it on a E plate, clean as fook but on the basis that it was a terrible starter and hardly any of the electrics worked. Handed the guy the £££'s, jumped in to try get it started, after it spun over for a few mins i...

Re: convertible roof options

no, to be honest ive not even looked at my roof to see how its all held together yet, but its not something i would rush into though and have managed all other aspects of building my E30.

I do feel confident in doing a good job with it but as i say, ive not looked into how its done yet

Re: Ignition Switch?

Do you have an alarm/immobiliser fitted? Or one in the circuit you dont know about? They are by far the main cause of the issues you are experiencing. yes i do have a working clifford alarm/immobiliser on my cabby, however none of my previous E30's have had alarms/immobiliser's and are all acting t...

Re: Ignition Switch?

interesting stuff, if this is the case ill replace the ignition switch and fit a relay to the system and let the relay take the battering rather than the new switch. or maybe go for a push button.. not sure yet. think it might be an idea to do both a new switch and the push button for backup, but if...
