I need to source a replacement power steering rack for my e30.

I phoned euro car parts and they asked whether it is an alloy or steel body that i require!

How can i tell whether i need alloy or steel?

My e30 is 1989 facelift car as in my avatar.

Any help appreciated.

Most likely is that the rack boot has been filling up with fluid, which has been squirted out of the boot breather hole when the boot was compressed while doing a parking manoeuvre. Yes the rear windows are factory fit as the car is the se model. Yet i can only operate the rear window from the centre console not from the switches in the door cards. Ive tested and swapped the switches over bu still he same issue.

Yes i get around 27mpg according to the obc. It was running rich but after clearing out the throttle body its rnuunig nice and smooth.
