Re: Super cheap ebay exhaust back boxes - advice please!
Ok, I bought one... Couldn't find a used one, and it was 27 quid + 11 postage! Quality is a little agricultural, and it only just fits. I didn't find the straps to go round the back box until after it was on, and I'd modded the old straps to fit, as the new silencer is about 1 inch thinner than the ...

Re: Super cheap ebay exhaust back boxes - advice please!
If it hasn't holed, why not pull your back box when the weather clears up, brush/sand off the rust, clean it up and rattle-can it with hi temp paint? Should cost you about a tenner. When mine went, I got an aftermarket half system, but obviously that costs a lot more money. Saga Mine's a little bey...

Re: Super cheap ebay exhaust back boxes - advice please!
No that specific one but I got one around that price off the bay late last year. It looked OK but the centre box has got something loose inside it now and makes a really annoying vibration noise at 2-3K :( Will probably replace it with something decent soon. Is the loose bit in the cheap box you bo...

Super cheap ebay exhaust back boxes - advice please!
Hi there I have a 325 saloon with 2 piece exhaust, with a lot of rust on the back box There are some really cheap exhausts on ebay, does anyone have any experience with them? Do they fit the car for example? Example ebay numbers are 160414173560 or 190217291421 . They cost 1/3rd of the last one I bo...

Re: Intermittent fuel leak?
I used to have a fuel leak on my iS...not enough to cause noticable level drops, just a smell. Eventually I sorted it after replacing: - Fuel Filter - Fuel Filter hoses - Fuel tank - All the various gaskets on the tank - Filler hose - The small hoses (about 50mm long) that go onto the injector rail...

Re: Intermittent fuel leak?
Be worth checking the filler pipe, this runs from the flap where you fill the tank down to the tank proper. There is also a rubber pipe connecting this part to the tank. The filler pipe is known to fail. Cheers This is what I need to know, what bits normally give trouble - otherwise, I don't know wher...

Re: Intermittent fuel leak?
You'd burn more fuel if the engine wasn't running right...might be worth checking the spark plugs. Might be a stupid Q, but are you sure it's using the fuel you think it is? I.e. you've brimmed the tank both times, you're not relying on the gauge? Brimmed it twice. Thought at first gauge was faulty...

Re: Intermittent fuel leak?
Where the two 150 mile journeys on similar roads? You certaily can't have leaked away 25 quid of petrol in 150 miles though, you'd be practically knocked out from the fumes if it was leaking that much! Not to mention the trail you'd leave behind. Does the car smell of petrol? Even 1 or 2 drops leak...

Intermittent fuel leak?
Hi all I had the petrol tank replaced by the MOT station last year, the old one was rusted. Bought a new one from GSF. I think the petrol pump sounds slightly more buzzy than before the work was done, but you know how it is, you hear things when you know something has changed... Car is 89 325 saloon...

Re: clunking noise on turning right
Thanks guys When it stops raining and I'm at home in daylight, I will check wheel bearing. It's a funny one as it's just had the handbrake worked on for the MOT. Thus, handbrake, wheelbearing, top mount etc should all be fine... Could it be propshaft/centre bearing? Or would that always make a noise...

Re: clunking noise on turning right
Eko Thanks for advice! I'm having a shortage of daylight/garage at the moment, but I'm trying to put my mind at rest about what could be wrong... What worries me about the knocking noise is that I'd expect all the components to load up in cornering and stay loaded - therefore no noise... noise impli...

clunking noise on turning right
Hi there I've just bought a 325 touring to replace my 325 saloon... It has an LSD and has been lowered a little (about an inch lower than my saloon that had Mtech suspension). I quite fancy putting normal height springs back on it, it seems to be wearing tyre inner edge too much... When I turn right...
