What does the pad wear look like? Have you checked the caliper bushes? The high heat and load could be making them pliable, letting the caliper do all sorts of spastic stuff.

Re:
As a Christmas present to myself I got an SGS 3 ton low profile jack at £132 inc vat. I've only used it a few times but it'll reach the chassis rail without ramps and lift the car as high as you could need it, with a sturdy construction. The only downside is I'm not sure if the 3 tons relates to the...

Re: Torque Values
In general, I only use torque wrenches on things with bearings or on bolts which would result in my immediate death if they were to come out, but it's not really that difficult and can save you major ball ache. In my opinion they are very high on the priority list of 'buy quality, buy once' tools. P...

If money and time are an issue just buy some standard gear in good nick for a few quid and use that until you've saved enough, rather than skipping between various budget shit.

Bulkhead sound deadening removal.
Do anyone know if it's possible to remove all or most of the bulkhead sound deadening in one piece so it's still suitable for refitting without stripping out all the brakes, fuse box, etc. and preferably without cutting it? Google hasn't come up with anything.
Cheers.

Re: A fair price on a Rebuilt M42 Engine with mods
Is the gearbox included in that price? it's very fair either way, but in my opinion if an engine or anything in general is being sold above the going rate on the merit of being rebuilt, you have to be able to prove it with receipts for parts and labour or a build thread or something. I'm assuming th...

Front indicators not working.
I'm guesing this'll be a relatively simple fix, but electronic fault diagnosis isn't really my strong point. What I know: - The front indicators don't work from the stalk or from the hazard button. - The rest of the indicators work, flashing at double speed when indicating and normal speed when usin...

Re: M52 track cooling issues
With regards to your coolant, assuming its not boiling, would be more efficient with a lower ratio of antifreeze to water as ethylene glycol based coolants have a lower thermal conductivity than straight water, but the trade off is less corrosion inhibition and water pump lubrication. If you're runn...

Apologies if this has been brought up before,I have searched and I mostly found "Who's the cheapest" sort of threads. I'm really just looking for some clarification on what is considered a 'modification' in terms of insurance. I found this link but the terms it uses are pretty broad. Flared wings an...

I've got all the basic info from sites like https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ and the (russian?) site that you enter your VIN, but thanks anyway.

So... H543 EBP. Who's owned it/seen it/crashed it?
Was just curious about its life really, if anyone else on here has owned it. It was originally bought from a member on here (sorry Vince, can't remember your username).
I'd be willing to bet one of the previous owners owned shares in a zip tie company.

Re: Central locking query!
If you can see the pins of the circuit you're testing, you can just use any old bit of wire (as long as it can take the current), jam one end into the pin you're testing and put the other end onto an earth.

Re: Central locking query!
Are you confused on how to ground a component? It just means make a connection between the component and any part of the chassis where it's bare metal. For example, one close to the drivers side footwell speaker would probably be the nut/bolt that holds the drivers seat in, but I'm sure there's load...

Re: M40 to M42 Is engine
For reference, the breather hose being at the front of the cam cover rather than the rear says it's most likely an E30 engine, but I'm guessing they're interchangeable so it's not 100% confirmation.

3.91 may well improve acceleration but will then provide a lower top-end (not that the iS has much of a top end) but that's totally fine as I never really push past 85mph on long motorway journeys. the 4.10 may well provide a higher top end but will be slower off the line. The other way around. The...
