Re: Bypass 'premium' amp in boot.. 6 wires?

Sorry Paultv, clipper, I've not touched the car (or therefore the radio) since that last post.

I will endeavor to crack on with it, since the sun has definitely come out now..

Re: Bypass 'premium' amp in boot.. 6 wires?

Okay - So certainly connecting Blue/Black to Black/White, and Brown/black (not the thick brown one..) to Black/Brown...... resulted in nice quality sound from the Right rear speaker. So I shall assume I need to connect the Brown / black to all the speaker -ve connections.. But It's cold in the garag...

Bypass 'premium' amp in boot.. 6 wires?

Hi, I have a 1989 325iC. I just spent an evening trying to wire in a "Continental" branded headunit in an attempt to keep a nice older looking facia, but getting USB and Bluetooth. Re: Gearshift bush - got a crappy part from BMW? 7501309

You could get a bush and o/s pin or sleeve made for your old one if the replacement turns out to be the same iffy quality.. Not sure quite what you meant (because I'm inept) but I am looking into whether I can buy some Delrin rod the right diameter and push / burn the old bush out, and drill the ri...

Re: Gearshift bush - got a crappy part from BMW? 7501309

Thanks for the advice! So I took the part back today - I thought they were going to have a replacement in, but they said it was on back order from Germany. It seems the dealer had been talking to someone higher up the supply chain and he intimated that they might have had a bad batch, and he wanted ...

Thanks for the feedback, I didn't think it could be right. I called the dealership back and got them to order a replacement. Another weekend wasted, waiting for the part to come in... :-(

Mind you, not really convertible weather here at the moment..

Thanks pierce, that makes me feel a bit better. So your new part too had this much slack in the central bush:

I'm not sure how to upload a video, but the rod part can move backwards and forwards and twist in this bush which was quite unexpected..

Gearshift bush - got a crappy part from BMW? 7501309

So I had the gearshift linkage apart so I could change an oil seal on the gearbox, and then decided to replace a few of the bushes in the mechanism to improve the shift quality. The final piece I needed was the "Shift Rod Joint" (part number 26 11 7501 309) I'd been warned to get the proper BMW one ...

1990 BMW E30 325iC - US spec - rambling..

Also posted on PistonHeads, but figure I should add to the zone as I'll get some good advice (and deserved abuse, I'm sure). Apologies in advance for the long read: When I lived in the UK, I had a particularly tatty 325i (1991) as a second car that I must admit I loved. At some point it must have be...

15x7j et12 Rota RB gunmetal/polished lip 4x100 wheels I think these might look pretty good on the Red E30 Cab I pick up this weekend, and I'll be passing this town in a week or so.. Re: Feeling the lure of another E30..

So the E39 is still mine, and is an excellent antidote to most of the American cars I've tried.. But I wanted an E30 again. I decided that a convertible would be good this time as I do now have access to some sunshine (most of the time. Crappy winters though..) But it needed to be a manual, and I wa...

Feeling the lure of another E30..

I only had a brief fling with a 325i, cut short when I emigrated. But I loved it.. Am now thinking it might be time to have another stab at it, this time finding myself something unmolested and (relatively) rust free.. Turns out that most in my US state are not cheap, not rust free, are molested and...

325 High speed Hiccup - engine dies for 0.25 sec, then fine?

After a year of no problems (bar random idle speed) by 325i has twice in the last couple of days given me a momentary panic when buzzing along the motorway (at a respectable speed): All has been well and then there has been a very short cut-out before everything carried on as normal. Well, 1 year later and the 325 has just passed another MOT with no issues, so I've bitten the bullet and bought off ebay an iS interior, so I will finally get some nicer seats to sit on.. The £40 'comfort' cloth interior that has done me for the last 12 months has been okay but doesn't really suit.....

Chassis Numbers - Last 2 door E30?

Hi - I've a J-plate 325i 2 door which I assume must have been one of the tail-enders and I'm looking to see if there is any guide as to the chassis numbers so can see how late?

I know cabs and tourings were produced for longer?

I'm just being geeky..

Try performance direct. From the reviews I've read, they seem to be cheap, but you pay a big penalty if you try and change cars or cancel during the year's insurance. (as a result they get a 1.5 / 5 rating on the review site I looked at) but most of this seemed to be down to complaints where people ...
