Hi, I have a 1992 318i convertible
I need to replace a rear cv boot, its the outer boot i.e the one nearest the wheel. Is it true that you need to take the inner boot and cv joint off to get to the outer boot?

Thats what I was talking about doing, I should have explained it better! Its the passenger side I needed but now I have the answer I will just remove the unit from the crap housing and replace the old style existing unit.

I managed to get all the parts i listed above as well as new gasket for about £185, my cam shaft looked fine and i took a chance and its working great, huge difference in the engine noise or lack of it!!
