basically checked the plugs as there was a strong smell of petrol in the cabin, evidence of the engine running quite richly, have adjusted the throttle and air flow to how i think it should run idles at 800-850 rpm still runs rich tho anything iv missed? has adjusting the airflow affected it?

all thats left mechanically is to find out whys its running really rich, checked the plugs and they show its rich and can distinctly smell it in the cabin, adjusted both the throttle and the air flow meter so its idling at 800 - 850 rpm yet it still runs rich anybody any ideas?

been wanting to pressure test but havent been able to buy a tester as of yet, as for the regulator can it be stripped? when i looked at it, it looked like it was a compact unit that couldnt be opened without breaking lol will definatly check and do everything uv said muchly appreciate the advice che...

right iv checked the fuel pump the regulator the lines the tank itself stopped the leak from the filler neck, had the inlet manifold off, checked the idle, pcv checked steering belt and fan belt and it still cuts out, this morning i just pulled into my parking spot and turned swiftly left and then r...

ah ok thats thrown that idea out of the window lol cheers, got any other ideas that would cause the engine to stop when cornering under load, also by happy mistake realised by taking the fuel feed pipe off the manifold start the engine then reconnect it the engine will start and run up until it cuts...

but would any air getting into the tank and up into the pump cause the loss of pressure? i took the pump out and checked the fuel pressure regulator which both seem fine but havent been able to pressure test it as of yet, just trying narrow down the possible causes, appreciate the info tho cheers.

i put an topic up earlier about engine cutting out, quick question would a petrol leak from the filler neck bottom hose to tank, cause air to get into the system causing fuel pressure to be lost and the engine to cut out?

im actually fairly embarresed to say that it was actually a loose wire connected to the pass door for the central locking that i had disconnected when i removed an aftermarket alarm from it, forgot to reconnect it :o: so under heavy cornering eg roundabouts the wire was moving across and tripping ou...

yeh passed fine did get adviserys on some rust near the rear arch which was spottable as soon as it was up on the four poster, only missed it seeing as all i got is axle stands lol and the offset on the vw steels cause it to rub on the struts which would of been a fail but know the guys up there and...
