Hi, thank you for the reply. Yes same single vanos, I changed the water pump and and thermostat inc the housing when I bought the donor back in February (the thermostat was stuck open). Has 85k on the clock and drives sweet, a fully loaded exec vehicle with only 3 owners. I'm tempted to moved across...

Re: ULEZ - Have your say - closes 28th Feb 2018
Petrol vehicles which are older than 2006 i.e. older than EURO 4, and diesel vehicles which are older than 2015 i.e. older than EURO 6 will incur the ULEZ charge, this charge is already in force in the Central London congestion charging zone (on top of the congestion charge). And will be rolled out ...

Thanks for the feed back, the engine is a pre tech update model if that makes any difference. The heating is working in the cabin. Although taking a lot longer than normal.

Hi, I bought a E39 528i 1997 on the weekend and was wondering if there were any overheating issues being hidden. The car does not climb up to normal running temp, the temp gauge is sitting in the cold range (just above the cold marker) all the time, whether local driving or motorway. This is a class...

Re: M52b28 coolant boiling
Thanks Dan,
I wasn't sure whether that would have been a good purchase, was after an original replacement.
Have you had any experience with one of these?

Re:
Was going to suggest crank sensor, those symtons sound exactly like the problems I had.
Which sensor did you go for as a replacement?
My original sensor lasted 3yrs+ from when I got my car, but the replacement lasted only a year with the current one starting to play up less than a few months in.
